Matthew is looking forward to traveling to Memphis, TN today. He will be performing a 30 minute solo set in the International Blues Challenge Youth Showcase on Friday, Feb. 4th at 5:20 PM at Blues City Cafe on Beale Street. Shreveport Celebrates The Grammys!
It's a first for Shreveport...celebrating the national and global spotlight of the rare occasion to have multiple 2011 Grammy Award nominations for current outstanding musical performers from Shreveport and the Ark-La-Tex region. Shreveport nominees include Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Buddy Flett, and Forever Jones. Louisiana Hayride alumnae nominations include Hank Williams, Johnny Cash and Willie Nelson. The local event is a FREE public event at the Shreveport Municipal Auditorium on Wed., Feb. 9th from 5-7 PM. The line up includes nominees and other musicians who will gather to celebrate the special occasion: Forever Jones, Buddy Flett, David Egan, Denny & DeAnza Duron, Joe Osborn, Jerry Hawkins, Ben Franks, Maggie Warwick, Miki Honeycutt, Bugs Henderson, Matthew Davidson, Michael Long, and others.
Kenny Wayne Shepherd will be unable to attend due to commitments in California. He will be featured in a video performing a song from his nominated album and is sending a video transmission message from California to the Shreveport gathering. Mollie Walton Corbett of Bossier City will open the show with "God Bless America."
Ken Shepherd and Maggie Warwick will host the event. The event is a free gift to the public from Louisiana Hayride Foundation, SMG Entertainment, Songwriters Academy of Louisiana, and all musicians and singers.
The national Grammy Broadcast will be on CBS (KSLA Channel 12) on Sun., Feb. 13th from 7-10 PM CST.

Minden Fasching (Mardi Gras) Karneval and Parade

Minden will be celebrating their German heritage on Sat., Feb. 19th with "Minden Fasching Karneval and Parade". "Fasching" is the German version of Mardi Gras. The Matthew Davidson Band will be performing at 1 PM. More details in future newsletters. Click HERE for the event website.

Save the date for a new festival in the area! "Going Green on the Red" will be held on Sat., April 30th at the Coushatta Fairgrounds in Coushatta, LA. The Matthew Davidson Band is looking forward to being part of the musical lineup, along with The Hardrick Rivers Revue, Robin & The Bluebirds, Betty Lewis & the Executives and The Harmon Drew Supergroup. The festival will be FREE and is currently looking for "Green" exhibitors, food vendors and arts and crafts vendors.
