SEASON OPENER - SEPTEMBER 12TH 2011

Still lot's of of requests coming in for tickets to our 1st game in the new Cobourg Community Centre and for season passes. We have some amazing things being planned for the 1st night that the Cobourg Cougars hit the ice in their exciting new home! The Concert band of Cobourg together with the Cobourg Legion Pipes and Drums will perform beginning at 6:30 PM in our new 2000 seat Bowl arena. The Concert Band will perform the National Anthem along with a singer (yet to be announced) Fun starts at 6:30pm ... Puck drops at 7pm
Cobourg Legion Pipe Band will perform with the Cobourg Concert Band
 The Cobourg Legion Pipe Band will play some duets with the Concert Band!

If you or someone you know played for the Cougars and are not on our list please complete the online form and we will add it to our database. We are also looking for detailed information on players who received scholarships or advanced to higher levels of hockey over the years and would appreciate any submissions to do with this.

Greetings!
Wow, people ask if we are enjoying the off-season break from hockey ... well there is no such thing ... in fact we are busier than ever before with so many exciting things going on with the club. The town is chatting about the Cougars and the new Community Centre over coffee, social events and sports events. Tickets are being reserved in blocks for our home opener and our sponsors are all excited about what we have to offer this season. Many new sponsors are coming on board and we feel blessed as a club to be part of a community that shows so much support for our home town hockey team. It's no secret as to what it takes to run an OHA team and we couldn't be here without our sponsors, our town council and our fans. Our staff are currently busy visiting our sponsors and delivering small tokens of our appreciation so we look forward to visiting each and every sponsor.

We look forward to sharing some incredible news with you over the summer months and invite everyone out to greet the Cobourg Cougars in the Waterfront Parade and at our Festival booth July 1st, 2nd and 3rd.
Many local charities have already booked their game nights and the Cougars organization look forward to helping to raise ever needed funds for these local charities this coming season. Last season the Cougars help to raise thousands of dollars for our local Northumberland Charitable Organizations and we hope to be able to increase this number in our 2011-12 hockey season.
If you are part of a local organization that would like to book a fundraiser night or if you are a local not for profit organization representing families of low or fixed incomes who cannot afford to attend our games, please contact us for special charitable passes.

Newest Cougar Led Midget Team to National Tournament By Jeff Gard - Northumberland Today
COBOURG -Wyatt Coghill has found his new hockey home. Coghill, who captained the London Junior Knights all the way to the national midget championship tournament this past season, has signed with the Cobourg Cougars of the Ontario Junior A Hockey League. Cobourg Cougars Sign London Junior Knights Captain By Paul J. Rellinger - Northumberland News
COBOURG -- It may be summer time, but it's business as usual for the Cobourg Cougars. The Junior A hockey club has signed forward Wyatt Coghill, a forward who captained the London Junior Knights, and scored 83 points in 96 games last season. Marinac Excited to Join Cougars By Jeff Gard - Northumberland Today
COBOURG -- When Nick Marinac was traded during the last Ontario Junior A Hockey League season, he knew he would be returning to his former club at the end of the campaign. Marinac didn't come back to the same team that he left, though. The now 19-year-old forward was a member of the Streetsville Derbys before he was dealt to the Georgetown Raiders in January. Brighton Native Signs with Cobourg Cougars By Paul J. Rellinger - Northumberland News
COBOURG -- The Cobourg Cougars, still on the prowl for talent, signed another rookie to join the Junior A hockey team. The Cougars signed 17-year-old Brighton native Mark MacAulay to their team. The East Northumberland Secondary School student played 27 games last season with the Port Hope Panthers Junior C team, scoring nine points.
