UPDATE ON Our New CC Centre

The 2,000 Seat NHL Size Arena is taking shape.
 One of two NHL Size Rinks being constructed. This will house seating for 400 people. The cooling hose nearly covers both rinks totals, approximately 30 miles of hose.

Multi-use facility expected to open in March

COBOURG -- Although still under construction, the multi-use Cobourg Community Centre is on schedule to open at the end of March. The facility will be open to the entire community as a multi-use cultural, arts, business, wellness and sports centre. "We're still on schedule and plan to open on March 31," said Stephen Peacock, Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) for the Town of Cobourg. "Progress is going well," said Mr. Peacock. WOW what a game Thursday night in Kingston as the Cougars downed Kingston 4-1. The game was broadcast free by Kingston's Tyler King on his Ustream Site ... check out his broadcast site HERE Saturday night was another successful win for the Cougars as they beat out Villanova 7-2 placing the cougars back in third place with 56 points ... just 3 points from 2nd place Peterborough and 6 points from 1st place wellington. Congratulations to the three stars as selected by Kingston. The three stars were as follows: 1ST STAR: Sexton, Blake (COB) 2ND STAR: Cadieux, Mathieu (COB) 3RD STAR: Flegel, Jake (COB)

Train the body, build the foundation. We will teach you how to train your body so that you can build strength and improve your conditioning to ensure that you are prepared to give your best performance every time you step on the ice.
Train the mind, learn to think the game. We will discuss offensive and defensive tactics for each zone as well as PP and PK strategies so you will have a better understanding of how the game is played. You will get an opportunity to implement these strategies and make in game adjustments as we will play a game each day.

Cougars inching their way up the standings

COBOURG -- A shootout loss Monday night enabled the Cobourg Cougars to claim one point against the league-leading Wellington Dukes.

Wellington (29-5-4) prevailed 2-1 in the Ontario Junior A Hockey League game when Brian Bunnett, the first shooter, turned out to be the only goal scorer in the shootout.
Dylan Goddard, Kevin Van Dyk and Blake Sexton were the shooters for Cobourg (24-11-4), but their attempts were all turned aside by Dukes goalie Jordan Ruby.
Cobourg netminder Mathieu Cadieux stopped the last two Wellington shooters -- Steve Evans and Darcy Greenaway -- to give his club an opportunity to extend the tiebreaker.
In three games so far, the Cougars have claimed four of a possible six points against the Dukes with three more games still to play. They have lost two straight, though, to Wellington in a shootout.

Cobourg Cougars fall to Dukes
Goalies shine in low-scoring game

COBOURG -- It was a game where the goalies took centre stage and stole the show.
The Cobourg Cougars took to the ice against the first-place Wellington Dukes at home on Jan. 10 at Cobourg's Memorial Arena and fought a close battle, but eventually fell to the Dukes 2-1 in a shootout.
Both Cougars' goalie Mathieu Cadieux and Dukes' goalie Jordan Ruby turned aside 35 shots, only allowing a goal each. After overtime could not solve a 1-1 game, both goalies again stood tall in net during the shootout; however, Ruby's Dukes came out on top.
With the loss, the Cougars fall to fourth place in the Ontario Junior Hockey League's east division, and now trail the Kingston ...
