UPDATE ON Our New CC Centre

The 2,000 Seat NHL Size Arena is taking shape.
 One of two NHL Size Rinks being constructed. This will house seating for 400 people. The cooling hose nearly covers both rinks totals, approximately 30 miles of hose.
CAO Stephan Peacock with an employee from Giffel Construction showing the part of the refrigeration system storage facility. Any cold that is not being used gets stored in the ice batteries to save on the cooling system kicking in.

Welcome to our 16th edition of the Cougars News Wire ...
The Cougars Christmas party was a big hit on Saturday night at Boston Pizza. A large crowd of players, staff, fans, billets and owners celebrated great fun, lots of prizes and food.
Speaking of team owners, Marc Mercier made a special announcement at the party; exciting news that Ralph Moulton (Owner of Cobourg Canadian Tire) and Randy Jacobi (Owner of Central Restoration in Cobourg) have joined the ownership group of the Cobourg Cougars.
We are all thrilled to have these very successful local businessmen as Governors of our hockey club.
Players enjoyed the night, signing hockey cards for children of the Billet families, we launched our new t-shirt 'Lovin' a Cougar, Ain't a Crime' and a certain Hockey player modeled the shirt for the entire evening lol.
There were lots of gifts and prizes. Team Captain Blake Sexton was the MC, standing on the bar with his microphone for each announcement. A special prize was awarded to Rod Baker for being the Cougars Number 1 Fan!
We would like to give a special thank you to Tonya at Boston Pizza and Nancy Matthews, volunteer for the Cougars for their help in planning the games and collecting prizes. Thanks to both of you for helping to make this night a huge success and to Bonnie Thrasher at Boston Pizza for your continued support of the Cobourg Cougars!

Cobourg youth recognized with Duke of Edinburgh Awards
COBOURG -- Four Cobourg youths have been rewarded for their hard work and accomplishments with a Duke of Edinburgh Award at a recent ceremony.
The awards, handed out on Saturday, Nov. 27 by Free the Children co-founder Marc Kielbruger at Holy Name of Mary College School in Mississauga, focus on four key areas: community service, skill development, physical fitness and adventurous journey.
This year four Cobourg teens were honoured for their commitment to the four categories, including St. Mary's Secondary School students Shaun Dwyer, Candice Visser and Katelynn Heasman and Trinity College School student Cameron Pollard.

IN THE NEWS Van Dyk having stellar year with CougarsSportsBy JEFF GARD, NORTHUMBERLAND TODAYCOBOURG -- Twenty-year-old defenceman Kevin Van Dyk is making the most of his final junior hockey season, which is also his first with the Cobourg Cougars. Cobourg has won four of its last five games, with the only loss coming in a shootout to the first-p lace Wellington Dukes on Friday. Van Dyk has recorded seven points during that stretch, including a goal and an assist in a 5-3 win over the Trenton Golden Hawks in Ontario Junior A Hockey League action on Monday night. He also assisted on a goal in Sunday's 2-1 win over the Whitby Fury. Overall, Van Dyk is currently second in scoring for the Cougars this season with 33 points through 33 games. His 10 goals and 23 assists trail only team captain Blake Sexton, who leads the club with 44 points. "The guys around me, I can just give them the credit," Van Dyk said after Monday's win. "They give me the puck and I give it back to them and they put it in or I just get a shot and it goes in. I'm having a lot of good luck this year and I feel like I'm having the best year of my junior career so far."
