COBOURG -- You're invited to Northumberland United Way Night with the Cougars.
The United Way is teaming up with the Cobourg Cougars Junior A hockey club for the event, which will be held on Monday, Nov. 15 at the Cobourg Memorial Arena when the Cougars host the Upper Canada Patriots. The event will be run by Learning Disabilities Association Northumberland Services and the R.E.A.D. Centre in support of the 2010 Northumberland United Way campaign.

Cougars pound Panthers

COBOURG -- Three unanswered goals in the second period were scored by the Cobourg Cougars en route to a 4-0 victory over the Pickering Panthers in Ontario Junior A Hockey League action Monday night at the Memorial Arena.
Blake Sexton, Connor Armour and Evan Jasper registered the goals in the second frame. Brett Gilmour, midway through the third period, also scored for Cobourg, which out-shot the Panthers 32-18. James Diminie assisted on a pair of the goals while Liam Van-Buren and Sexton each drew a helper as well.
Goaltender Mathieu Cadieux earned the shutout while recording his 11th win of the season.
Cobourg improved its record to 12-6-1 while Pickering dropped 4-16-0.
Riding a three-game winning streak, the Cougars are back in action on the road Friday in Peterborough and Sunday in Whitby.
McMahon scores in OT for Cougars' win

COBOURG -Dylon McMahon scored twice -late in the third period and then in overtime -to send the Cobourg Cougars to a 4-3 victory over the visiting Vaughan Vipers on Saturday night in Ontario Junior A Hockey League action at the Memorial Arena.
McMahon's first tally, with just 3:36 to go in regulation time, was the only goal of the third period and evened the score 3-3.
His game-winner came with the Cougars on a 5-on-3 power play just over two minutes into the extra frame. Overtime is played 4-on-4, but the Cougars got the fifth man on the ice when Vaughn's Stephen Genua received a high sticking penalty and an extra two minutes for unsportsmanlike contact after his club already began overtime shorthanded.
