Street Yoga Happenings October 2011
|
|
Dear Friends,
Fall into Gratitude 2011 was amazing. Thank you for helping us exceed our expectation for community, fundraising and JOY!
At this year's events, many shared their Street Yoga Stories. We are so blessed to have an abundance of volunteers, board members, and supporters who step up and vocalize why yoga is important to them, and witness the transformative power of its practice in their lives, and in the lives of the youth we serve.
This month, volunteer and board member Julie Larson shares her Street Yoga story.
" Street Yoga allows me to combine two loves of my life...the deep, personal learning that yoga offers and providing opportunities for youth living in difficult circumstances to know their true worth and not let their circumstances define them. "

Dance Performance at Seattle's Fall into Gratitude
|
In Portland and Seattle, Street Yoga celebrated our gratitude with our annual benefit. Both events were a success and will offer more care and services to our programs for future. We are so grateful to have such wonderful communities throughout the states and thank each and every one of you for supporting our cause!
We would like to give an additional thank you to our sponsors, guest performers and speakers. Your support, kind words and talents made our event possible. A night of food, music and community couldn't have been better.
Street Yoga raised over $7,000 thanks to our participants, donors, and auction winners. Thank you for your attendance!

Street Yoga Teacher Trainings
|
|
We offer monthly weekend teacher trainings in cities across the country for community members interested in learning how yoga serves vulnerable young people and their families, not only homeless youth, but also young people who are faced with challenges that stem from overcoming the pain of sexual and physical abuse, mental illness or familial substance addiction and other traumas.
Trainings are open to experienced yoga teachers as well as those new to yoga. In the past we've had massage therapists, nurses, social workers, teachers and many others join us for a weekend of connection, learning and soul-building.
We now offer CEUs through the Yoga Alliance and the National Association of Social Workers for the SY Training.
