Program Update

The hints of fall are in the air!  We are currently gearing up to re-start all of the programs that function on a school schedule and getting very excited for what is in store.  This fall, we'll be piloting a new piece of curriculum at Rosemary Anderson High School.  In addition to the twice weekly yoga classes we've been offering for over a year at RAHS, we are adding the Shine On Project, a wellness leadership component  that adapts mindfulness practices and yoga philosophy to the lives of students. This project is made possible by the grant we received from Nike this year- we are so grateful for opportunities to continue adding depth to our programming!

With Love, Jaime Hedlund

Program Updates

Street Yoga KidsDuring our small celebration/self care party each girl went around and said how the class has been helping them, they each said some truly amazing things, I think what most inspired me was one of our lower functioning kids said, " i'm not really sure what it is, I just know that I feel much better when I leave then before I come" something of this nature, so simple and so true and for this client that was huge.  The girls refer to coming as a sanctuary and have really bonded with each other that come consistently which is also really huge for this population where there is almost always drama among the clients.  One week I had to go out of town and therefore switched the day I taught but the girls have been loving it so much that one of the clients lead a yoga group the day I was gone using cards they have so they could have yoga twice that week!

Be Nourished Change from A Deeper Place

Join be nourished to for a 2 hour introduction to Motivational Interviewing.

Dana Sturtevant, MS, RD provides training and consultation in Motivational Interviewing for professionals working in a variety of health care settings.  With eight years of experience, Dana can create engaging and dynamic training workshops, from one hour to two days, to meet the needs of any group.

Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a directive, client-centered counseling style for eliciting behavior change by helping clients to explore and resolve ambivalence. Compared with non-directive counseling, it is more focused and goal-directed.  The examination and resolution of ambivalence is its central purpose, and the counselor is intentionally directive in pursuing this goal.

Street Yoga Teacher Trainings

Become a part of our Global Network!

 Street Yoga Flyer

We offer monthly weekend teacher trainings in cities across the country for community members interested in learning how yoga serves vulnerable young people and their families, not only homeless youth, but also young people who are faced with challenges that stem from overcoming the pain of sexual and physical abuse, mental illness or familial substance addiction and other traumas.

Trainings are open to experienced yoga teachers as well as those new to yoga. In the past we've had massage therapists, nurses, social workers, teachers and many others join us for a weekend of connection, learning and soul-building.

We now offer CEUs through the Yoga Alliance and the National Association of Social Workers for the SY Training.
