A Letter From Our Executive Director
|
Dear Street Yoga friends and partners,
It's a wonderful time for Street Yoga and I'm thrilled to be looking toward the future with you.
For the past six months I have served as your Interim Executive Director and it's with great humility that I bow in gratitude to what has been built here over the last few years. In large part I'm grateful to the amazing contribution of Adrienne and her assistance during this transition.
This organization has an amazing tangible and intangible effect on everyone it touches; and I am no different. I have been honored to witness and participate in the passion of this growing group of yoga service workers all over the country, and to see firsthand the huge impact of this work.
As we embark on 2011 Street Yoga has a lot of success from which to grow - and a lot of work to do. It's my hope that Street Yoga programming can reach even more youth and caregivers throughout the United States and beyond. Youths who deserve to find safe homes within their own bodies. Caregivers who suffer secondary trauma and need tools for self-care and sustenance. Yoga makes space for healing, breath helps to self-soothe and asana strengthens those who feel helpless. I'll be hard at work with both the staff and the board to grow our reach to those in need.
It's my honor to serve with you and I look forward to supporting this mission in the next phase of our evolution. For, it's your dedication that makes Street Yoga unique, meaningful and significant and together we have remarkable potential for change in our communities.
Please read our 2010 Annual Report which has an inspiring letter from Adrienne and Mark regarding her transition.
Namaste,
Rachel Sample Executive Director

Trainings are open to experienced yoga teachers as well as those new to yoga. In the past we've had massage therapists, nurses, social workers, teachers and many others join us for a weekend of connection, learning and soul-building.
We now offer CEUs through the Yoga Alliance and the National Association of Social Workers for the SY Training. Sign up now!
