All TV's with Cox Service Required to Have Cable Box

Changes take effect December 13, 2010 


How Cox's upgrade to an all-digital platform may affect you:

  • Any television in your household that is not currently connected to a cable box will need one if you want to continue getting cable on that TV.
  • Cox is offering two boxes for free per household. You will need to lease additional boxes if you need more than two. You can pick up the boxes yourself, schedule Cox to install them for you for free, or have Maestro pick up the boxes and install them for you.
  • If you have specialized racks for your AV equipment and want the new boxes installed in the racks, call Maestro to schedule an appointment.
  • If you have universal remotes and/or a home automation system, your system will need to be programmed for the new boxes.

Benefits of the Upgrade 
 

Cox's upgrade allows for greater bandwidth... the translation is it will allow them to provide customers with more features like additional high-definition channels and video on demand.

 

You should notice improved picture quality on channels 2-60.  Entertainment on demand (EOD) will be immediately available after the upgrade.  Now you will have the same digital or HD service and channels at all your televisions, including the 40 new high-def channels that are on their way.

FAQs

 

How Will This Affect My Bill? 
 

Contact Cox for a detailed explanation about how this change may affect your monthly bill. However, our understanding from discussions with them is that while some fees are rising, others are being eliminated, so they estimate that any household with up to 5 cable boxes will see little or no net change to their monthly bill.

How Do I Get My Boxes?


You can call Cox directly to arrage for free delivery and installation of your new boxes.  However, if you are out of town or prefer to avoid the hassle, Maestro is happy to help.  See our "Service Concierge" information below for more details.

What if I have an equipment rack, Control4 or other home automation?

Remember, those of you with equipment racks, universal remotes and/or home automation systems will want to have us come out to fit the boxes in your racks and program your systems.  However, call now for an appointment as our schedule is already filling up in anticipation of the December 13 deadline.

 



Service Concierge 
 

In order for Maestro to be able to act on your behalf with Cox, we will need to be authorized on your account, gather account details and communicate with Cox.  We will then be able to schedule box delivery or pick-up and installation.
