A Minute with Noel

pilates

Greetings!

A cooking session can be anything you want it to be: all pork, all beef, all pies, all chicken or a combination, such as pie, cake, chicken, turkey, and pork. You can use a cooking session to prepare a week's meals or to cook up a batch of basics for recipes to be finished later. Or you can cook just to simply stock your freezer with foods to be deforosted, heated, and served whenever you need them.

The weekend is a good ttime to organize and cook, particularily when you are just beginning to follow this method. You might cook on Sunday afternoon or on a Saturday morning when you're less rushed than you are during the week. You'll be amazed to see how many meals can result from a Sunday afternoon in the kitchen, and you'll go to work on Monday morning feeling way ahead of the game.

As we begin another week in the kitchen and balancing the life of family living, we'll make a multitude of meals using the flexibility of cooking sessions and bring wonderful meals to the table to share with your family.

See you in the kitchen,

Noel

Here is a recap of what we shared on the blog last week, just in case you missed a post or two!

Here are some things I blogged about last week:

  • Meal Portions;Stocking That Freezer: After I do a cooking session, I serve my family what I've cooked. The leftovers get divided into meal sizes and frozen. An ideal meal size for a single portion: fill one dinner plate  as you normally would for one person.
  • Family Sub Sandwiches:Bliss Between Bread:

Here's a quick dinner for those Family Fun Nights. These handheld sandwiches are layered with fresh flavors straight from your own kitchen. You can mix and match the ingredients and no matter what, they always come out yummy!

  •  Rise and Shine:We're Having Pancakes!: Starting your day off right with a delicious breakfast? Whether you have a leisurely weekend morning to assemble a strata, quiche or are rushing out the door and need a grab-and-go-meal, I've got you covered.

  • A Busy Mom Finding Balance:Life In A Binder?:  Life can get a little chaotic at times and at some point a busy moms needs to find balance. I've decided to create a  Home Management Notebook of my own to help me with the challenging tasks of everyday life in running a household. It will include a monthly calendar, list of important dates, bill paying, goals to planning a family vacation, meal planning, cooking, grocery lists, household chores,  kid's yearly events, topic ideas for writing on my blog and having moments where I can pick up a good book and read without worrying what has to get done.

Time Savers For Busy Moms!

How about some tools that will help busy moms easily plan meals, quickly organize, and budget so that you can have more family time!

Home Management Notebook-Finding Balance

Moms are busy. And by default, we're multi-taskers. There's no other way we can do a load of laundry and pay bills and buy groceries and make dinner and spend quality time with our kids. But I'd say the number one enemy of productivity in a mom's life - especially when she has very small children at home - is trying to do too much.

I print out a Monthly Calendar from word and with my sharpened pencil in hand, I sit down and plug meal ideas in and erase and re-organize to fit the needs of my family. Then I enter them on my google calendar so when it's time to grocery shop, I know what I'm making and having my shopping list with me in hand I'm ready to go.

I like the idea of having a Daily Docket, Master Weekly Checklist, Grocery Shopping List, Budgeting For Christmas, and Goal Setting For 2011. All of these will be in a Home Management Binder I'm creating so I'm on task as well as the family. Stay tuned for how this plays out during the upcoming months.
