At the turning of the seasons it's a good time to think about your family's health and steps you can take to keep healthy in the new year. A healthy exercise regimen and diet are crucial, of course, but it's just as important to make sure that you and your family will be safe if you need medical care.
We will be out of the office from December 20th through January 4th visiting Lynn's daughter Liz, who has recently moved to London. Hopefully we won't need to call on the NHS.

Experience and expertise can often lead to solutions that are not apparent to the uninitiated. This question springs from a presentation I did recently entitled "What Would Lynn Do?".
Q: I recently needed extensive medical services and my insurer arbitrarily didn't pay the most expensive bills. I'm stuck with a $12,000 bill. There seems to be no rhyme or reason to why it was paid as it was.What can I do?

- Threaten to sue the company.
- Take out a loan from the local mafia.

None of the above. In the actual event, Lynn managed to appeal to the Department of Insurance and the carrier. With persistent follow up, the provider agreed to cover the extra $12,000 bill. A good agent fights for you and gets you the best care possible, at no direct cost to you.

Health Care Reform Report

 There are a lot of things to discuss lately about the Health Care Reform Law.
Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius predicted on Monday, November 29th, that the U.S. House will pass a bill to repeal the health care reform law but said she doubts the effort will clear the Senate or that a court challenge against the law will be successful.
But Sebelius said that the more Americans go beyond "cable news" descriptions of the law and learn what it means to them for coverage, more will understand that there are good aspects worth considering. "The conversation changes," she said.
