TPS Clean-up Day set for March 5
TPS Clean-up
The TPS staff and Jessamine County Community have teamed up to get the New Providence School building into shape. The goal is to have the building ready for occupancy by June so teachers can begin setting up their rooms for the start of the 2011-12 school year.

West Jessamine Middle School Academic Team Headed to State Finals
WJMS Academic TeamThe West Jessamine Middle School Academic Team advanced to the State Finals after placing Runner-Up in Quick Recall and Runner-Up Overall at the Regional Governor's Cup Competition. In addition to the team success, the following students advanced in individual competition: Joseph Oaks, Jonah Dixon and Jerod Crockett.

FFA Agriculture Issues Team visits Capital Hill
FFAOn February 17th, the FFA Agriculture Issues Team went to the capital with the purpose of talking with our legislators about some of the issues facing agriculture. They met with Rep. Bob Damron and Sen. tom Buford who gave them the ins and outs of politics and how a bill gets passed and enacted into law.

WJHS Students Selected for Prestigious Scholars Program
ReischauerScholars
Mathew Liversedge and Ouree Lee, sophomore students at West  Jessamine High School, have been selected into the Reischauer Scholars Program. Sponsored by the Stanford Program on I nternational and Cross-Cultural Education (SPICE), this program annually selects 25-30 exceptional high school sophomores, juniors, and seniors from throughout the United States to engage in an intensive study of Japan. 

RDES celebrates I Love to Read Week 

 RDES I Love To Read Week R.J. Corman celebrated I Love to Read Week with the students of Rosenwald-Dunbar elementary at their kick-off celebration on Friday, February 11, 2011. Corman shared one of his favorite books, The Little Engline That Could, with the assembly.

ARRGGH! It's Pirate Literacy Night at WES 

WES Pirate Night

On de blustery eve of Thursday, February 17, wif de Jolly Roger a flyin', Capt'n Andi McNeal an 'er crusty crew hosted Pirate Tryouts for all who would dare. De brave "book-aneers" and der families set sail on de W.E.S. Storyseller for de Family Literacy Voyage.

WJHS Bowling Teams Celebrate Their Season 
WJHS Bowling Teams

The West Jessamine High School girls and boys bowling teams celebrated their successful season on Thursday, February 17th with a team banquet. The girls finished the season placing 2nd in the Horse Capital High School Bowling Conference and went on to a 2nd place finish inthe tournament. The boys finished the season 4th in division 1 of the Horse Capital High School Bowling Conference.

JCTC Preschool Lab Offers Fun While Learning 
JCTC Playschool

Jennifer Hulett's Advanced Child and Human Development class at the Jessamine Career and Technology Center (JCTC) is running an 8-week playschool that started January 31st. Fifteen preschool children come on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9-1 a.m. to the JCTC preschool lab. Ms. Hulett's students plan all of the lessons and teach the children.

EJMS Leadership Students get Locker Lions 
EJMS Locker Lions

In January, The East Jessamine Middle School (EJMS) Leadership students received a visit from Ms. Taunya Northup, a Crime Victims Advocate, who spoke to the group about her job. She gave each of the Leadership students a "Locker Lion" and explained that they were given in abusive situations to adolescents in those families. Much like a "teddy bear" for a young child, the lion is a source of comfort and smiles in tough situations.
