Our NCD Parishes ARE Growing! Here's some news: all
three of the congregations in our diocese that are now on their third Natural
Church Development (NCD) profile are increasing in average Sunday attendance. Natural Church Development is careful when it speaks of
results congregations can expect from engaging the NCD process. What they say about growth is that "churches
that have completed three or more profiles have seen their growth rate
increased by 51%. On average within the 31 months between the first and third
profiles." Not only is that our experience, but in fact our three parishes now
on their third surveys have turned negative growth rates into positive ones
over that period. Congratulations to the three parishes and their rectors: New
Life, Uniontown, Pat Hanen; St. Paul, Canton, Barbara Bond; and St. Thomas,
Berea, Gayle Catinella. Call any of them and ask them if they think NCD has
been worth the time and energy! If you want to know more about NCD for your parish, call or
email Brad any time. |

CCFC Now Offers Five Different Grants
for Congregations and Individuals
The CCFC (Congregations and Christian Formation Commission) now
has five grants available to congregations:
1)
Ministry and Growth Grants (formerly known as Mission
Enhancement Grants) - These are grants of up to $4,000 in the first year
(declining over a possible two more years) to enable parishes to respond to
ministry and parish growth opportunities beyond their own means to fund. These
grants can be applied for anytime but once the money runs out for the year,
it's gone.
2) Christian Formation Grants - Grants for up to $1,000 per year for up to three years to
enable parishes to offer to members adult Christian formation opportunities
beyond its own means to fund. Again, there is no deadline to apply for
these, but when the money's gone it's gone.
3) College Work Grants - Grants to congregations to help develop ministry to college students at nearby campuses. These are awarded
annually, the deadline for the 2011 grant cycle is May 3, 2010.
4)
Aid for Operating Expenses Grants - An operating expenses grant for
parishes with NOI under $100,000 and/or in an official Shared Ministry.
(Unfortunately the deadline for application for the 2011 grant cycle has just
passed).
5) Lay Continuing Education Grants - Grants to lay members of the diocese for the purpose of developing skills for ministry with their congregation and for mission to
the world. These grants applications are reviewed monthly.
Further details
for all five grants, along with applications, are available at www.dohio.org or call our office.
