Save Energy - When You're Away From Home
 Vacations are one of life's most enjoyable rewards. But before you take
off on a trip, follow these tips to conserve energy at home.
1. Air Conditioning: Reset the temperature settings on your central air conditioner so it runs only a few hours a day.
2. Hot Water: If you will be away for more than two or three days, turn down the thermostat on your water heater.
3. Electric & Electronic Devices: To save energy and reduce the risk of fire in the event of a lightning strike, unplug your TVs, VCR/DVD players, game consoles, computers and microwave.

Removing a Broken Light Bulb
A broken light bulb in a socket is irritating, but it also can be hazardous. Here are suggestions to remove it safely...
1. Safety First: Be sure to cut the power to the lamp by unplugging it or switching off the circuit to the lamp.
2. Put down a tarp to catch remaining broken glass and use eye protection. Wear heavy duty protective gloves.
3. Cut a potato or apple in half and press it down over the socket. While pressing down, turn it counterclockwise to unscrew the bulb base.
4. If that does not work, insert closed pliers into the broken base, spread the handles apart and turn counterclockwise.
5. Be sure to clean and dry the socket before inserting the new bulb.
