detail of Evening Descends on the Tallgrass

"Evening Descends on the Tallgrass", has overwhelmed viewers, dominating the walls of the studio

since early 2011. The idea for a major work depicting a late summer sunset,

falling rain, rising fog and the silent sentinels of tallgrass on the hill tops came

from Matthew's memories of countless painting

and camping adventures in the Flint Hills of native Kansas.

"I was working on several paintings at the same time as "Evening Descends"

but no one noticed them when they entered the room. The scale, color

and drama of this image is riveting, it commands the viewer's attention.

If you want an oil painting that impresses the eyes and hearts

of everyone who enters the room I can't think of another that does it so consistently."

-Matthew Richter, June 2011

Hosting a half dozen Kansas Artists depicting their FAVORITE PLACES,
