News from the Farm
In a moment of what I now believe was Temporary Insanity, I signed up to run a 5K October 1 at Disney's Food & Wine Festival. Now, I should mention that I have never run in my life unless something big and bull-ish was chasing me and I have crummy lungs. Conditioning my lungs has proven much more challenging than I had imagined. Stay tuned for updates!
The bacon and summer sausage may be on the endangered species list. The USDA has new regulations for small, family run processors that smoke or cook any products. The "new and improved" <cough> method for testing product safety is bacterial swabs of FLOOR DRAINS. Yes, I am serious. The summer sausage we got back in early August (only 230 logs) may be all there is--ever; so stock your freezer and GA/FL customers should go ahead and order ASAP for December. We have an installment of bacon coming in 7-10 days and it may be the last, so clear out space and load your freezer.
SEPTEMBER STARTS:
1. Tailgating season! Don't forget Polish, Brats, Italian (sweet or hot), Andouille and Spicy Links for the grill. Want to upgrade? How about chicken wings? Steaks? Pork chops?
2. Winter CSA sign ups: No price increase! Exisiting full share customers who renew before November 1 get a $25 gift certificate.
3. Thanksgiving turkey reservations: Pastured birds, GMO free, estimated weight 15-20 pounds each. $25 deposit |

IMPORTANT CHANGE: GA Welcome Center, Calhoun and Improveat will be FRIDAY, December 2.
From Macon to Tampa will be TUESDAY December 6.
Orlando will be December 7.
Look for an email before the end of the month wil the list of products that must be preordered by November 15th and early specials. |
