Program Update #1
Spring Corvette Event at Watkins Glen, April 24 &25, 2010

To Corvette Fans, Racers, Collectors and Friends,

Here is the latest update of what’s in store for those signed up, those planning to sign up and those who are thinking about attending.

The special discount for early registrations has been extended to March 15th so SIGN UP NOW!

Saturday

Specially guided tours of the original 6.6 mile road course will be conducted Saturday morning.  This is the only race course in the United States listed in the National Register of Historic Places.

Ralph Kramer, Senior Editor of Corvette Enthusiast, Chevrolet PR director 1979-1995, and who is currently restoring an SCCA class B Production Corvette race car will anchor our panel discussion and Q & A in the afternoon.

Distinguished invitees with whom we are in discussion include * Eric Curran, Whelen Corvette racing team, leading Speed World Challenge series driver and Rolex Grand Am GT in 2010, (appearing at the Glen) * Peter Klutt, one of the fastest vintage Corvette racers, a Glen favorite and Dream Car Garage TV personality, and * Kerbeck Chevrolet, owner of EX-122, the 1953 Motorama show car that ignited Corvette production on June 30 in Flint, MI.

Other invitees include pros on Driving, Car Prep, Setup, Data Acquisition, Analysis and Vintage Racing.

There will also be a taste of Corvette history at the Glen, thanks to the experts at the International Motor Racing Research Center (IMRRC), the Registry of Corvette Race Cars and other enthusiasts.

A reception will follow featuring specially labeled red and white wines from Atwater Estate Vineyards.  A limited number of these specially labeled bottles will be available for purchase.

Sunday

Watkins Glen International (WGI) race course opens at 9 am.  You don’t need a Corvette to drive the pace laps.  In conjunction with the IMRRC we have arranged for a Corvette Corral in the prominent area between the pit straight grandstands and the garage.  There will be car displays and use of the garage if weather dictates.

The 3.6 mile WGI race track is a world renowned road racing circuit that hosted the Formula One US Grand Prix for 20 years, the CanAm, F-5000 and today hosts NASCAR, Indy Car and Grand Am pro races.

Proceeds from the pace laps (included in our sign up package) will be donated to the Hillside Children’s Foundation, a Rochester, NY based charity serving the entire Western New York region.

As an added attraction we are currently working with the track staff to organize a record attempt (hopefully sanctioned by the Guiness Book of World Records) for “the most number of Corvettes on a race track”.  More details will be released as they become available, but it’s just another reason to be part of this exciting weekend, so sign up now!

Monies are payable by check or credit card as set forth at the bottom of the revised sign up sheet.
