CALEA News

Professionalism, stewardship, integrity, diversity, independence, continuous improvement, objectivity, credibility, consistency, knowledge, experience, accountability, and collaboration are the primary cornerstones that distinguishes CALEA from all other forms of public safety accreditation.

COLORADO FIRES

The recent fires in the western United States have been devastating

and have impacted many public safety agencies, particularly in Colorado.

CALEA Commissioner J. Grayson Robinson, Sheriff of Arapahoe County, Colorado commented, "As the people of Colorado and the public safety organizations of our state have recently experienced the tragedies and the historical loss associated with the impact of wild land fire, once again we have had the opportunity to see the good in the people of our communities and the extraordinary character of our state's first responders. During these very challenging times, we have again seen our communities come together in support and meaningful outreach."

Captain John Manago of the Larimer County Sheriff's Office, Patrol Division, and a CALEA Assessor, supplied a first-hand account of the recent High Park Fire in Colorado. Read more.

New Process for Obtaining Training Certificates!

CALEA has developed a new system to process Certificate(s) of Training for conference attendees. The new process is more efficient and results in attendees receiving their training certificates much sooner. The process is simple and easy to use by requestors. After the conference has ended, attendees wanting certificates for the training classes they attended will log into the conference section on the CALEA website, using the ID and password they were emailed when they registered for the conference. Next click the Submit Training Certificate Request link found under the Schedule tab to select the specific workshop session(s). CALEA will review and approve the requests, then email the attendee the Certificate(s) of Training in an html file format for downloading. This new system greatly increases the timeliness attendees receiving their certificate(s).

Further Clarification on the Availability of the CACE Software

In response to questions regarding the CACE software options, CALEA continues to offer and support its various software programs (CACE-L, CACE-C, CACE-T, CACE-S, and CACE-R) and clients have the option to continue using the program as a means to manage their accreditation process. There currently is no date for the elimination of CACE. In the future if a decision is made to discontinue CACE as a management software option, CALEA will provide service to users for three years from the date of the announcement. During this time client users will have an opportunity to complete an accreditation cycle before having to decide on new accreditation management systems.

If you have additional questions concerning this topic, please contact your CALEA Regional Program Manager.

Reminder Concerning CALEA Change Notices

Amendments to CALEA Standards that result from actions taken by the Commission during the CALEA Conference in Scottsdale will be incorporated into Change Notices for the various CALEA Accreditation Programs. Client agencies should take note that these will be the final Change Notices created to support the printed standards manual format and the last time they will be posted to the CALEA website.

Clients that have not already done so are encouraged to make the transition to the CALEA Electronic Publications and become familiar with navigating the electronic manuals. Each client agency is required to sign an electronic access agreement and pay the annual subscription fee to receive access. If you are unsure if your agency has signed the agreement and paid the fee, please contact your CALEA Regional Program Manager. The agreement can be accessed on the CALEA website under My CALEA Store, CALEA Manuals page. When accessing the link scroll to the bottom of the page to download the agreement.
