Before you turn your thoughts to back to school and fall activities I hope you'll take a few moments to check out what is happening around the Hoffman Estates Animal Hopsital. Our techs had a great time participating at the Barrington Sidewalk Days and Palatine's Canine Carnival over the last few weeks. Frodo celebrated his 16th birthday and he, and all of us, enjoyed reading so many birthday wishes and seeing so many new "likes" on Facebook. I've got a talk coming up at the South Barrington Club in September and the staff is busily gearing up for another fall full of events for clients and the community. It is rewarding to take care of your pets each and every day!

Dogs being walked at night run into a completely different set of experiences than their daytime counterparts. Different smells, sounds, and sights all have an impact on a dog's sensory journey through the neighborhood. Dogs walked at the night are also subject to a cloak of darkenss- or being barely visible to many passing cars on the road. This lack of visibility can be dangerous for dogs. August is National Immunization Awareness Month for both humans and our pets. Vaccinating your animals against common dieases is important for their safety and is key to helping them live long and healthy lives. It is important to keep your pets up-to-date on all vaccinations. We usually remind our clients about needed vaccinations at the annual exams, but if you feel you would like to check your pet's immunization status please call our office at (847) 310-8668.

Remember different vaccines are effective for different lengths of time.
