What's in a Jewelry Wardrobe?

Your clothing wardrobe needs a jewelry wardrobe to go with it, stocked with staple pieces that can accessorize every ensemble with ease.  Just like these fashion icons who have timeless elegance, this list of classic jewelry items  will take the guess work out of accessorizing.  Here's a basic list of what your wardrobe should contain and how to wear them from day to evening.

pearls 1. Pearls (real or faux)

Creamy white are the preferred color choice but shades of pink or black can add an air of sophistication.

     The list:

  • earrings - stud or drop pearl style
  • necklaces - short length, long length and/or a multi-strand style
  • bracelet - single or multiple strands

How to wear them: Known for their femininity and lady-like styling just like Grace Kelly, pearls add a classic touch to any outfit.  Wear for with a suit for a job interview or making a presentation.  Wear for evening to a wedding.

2. Metals

Gold or silver, one of these metal colors will be more flattering against your skintone.

The list:

  • earrings - gold or silver hoop earrings in different sizes
  • necklaces - short chains & long chains in various widths or textures
  • bracelet - bangle or cuff style

How to wear them: Hoop earrings and chains are an everyday staple and simple styles work well with a novelty necklace.  Chains in different widths can by layered together.  Hang a charm from a long chain to make a pendant.  Layer bangle bracelets in a set of three.   As perfect for a princess as they are for every class of women.

LT diamonds3. Sparkle

Liz would agreed that diamonds are a girl's best friend.  But for gals who long for the brilliance of diamonds in affordable options, rhinestones and cubic ziconia can shine just as brightly. Check out QVC's Diamonique brand of simulated diamonds.

The list:

  • earrings - stud, hoop, drop or chandelier style
  • necklace - short choker style or drop pendant like Liz
  • bracelet - single or multi-strand
  • ring with bling

How to wear them: Sparkly jewelry adds an air of richness to any special occasion dress.  Create one focal point for that WOW factor.

What's in YOUR closet?

Fair Isle style sweaters go from ski chalet to city chic.

Originally from the Fair Isle in the Shetland Islands, Scotland these brightly colored patterned sweaters were mostly at home on a ski slope.  Now these pretty vintage looks are a stylish choice wherever you go.  Pullover or cardigan, a tapered style will flatter your shape.  Pair with a short skirt, boots and tights or corduroy pants.
