I don't know why, but I am always amazed by the Law of Attraction and how it really does work, every single time. Applying it to our self-growth and evolution is pretty amazing too.
Take for example we are moving in the direction of spiritual awakening. We are moving toward our most authentic self. Along the way we pinpoint a virtue (or two) that we would like to work on. Say we choose patience or compassion or truth.
We may ask the Heavens or the Universe or God to help us along this path. We may say
please, give me the opportunities to grow in this area of my Being. So we say it and so it shall be and the Universe responds. The question is, are we ready? Truly ready?
Because the truth is, once you ask, you shall receive. Every, single time. So here comes this opportunity that challenges your patience, compassion or truth and say you don't notice it as an opportunity. You fall into old patterns of behavior and thinking. You respond in ways that feel comfortable to you but this time, you notice a bit of unrest after the fact. You realize later .... Ah, that was an opportunity. Shoot, I did it again.
I wish I had more patience; why didn't I show more compassion; why couldn't I tell the truth. And you rationalize
, next time I will get it right.
And the next time comes and again, you fall "short" of your own expectations. Maybe you even beat yourself up a bit.
Oh man, again! Why did I do that again! I really don't want to act that way! That must be the conditioning from my parents. I must have learned that from someone at work/school. You wallow in this self-agonizing pity only to again, miss the next opportunity to grow.
So what happens; maybe you give up. You just simply fall back into your old patterns because why? It's easier than growth. It's easier that getting back into the ring of Self Evolution.
Understand that each and every time you ask to evolve, to grow, to awaken, the Heavens respond with circumstances that challenge you to do just that. And believe me, they aren't always fun circumstances. As Marianne Williamson said,
"We must face our own ugliness. We often must become painfully aware of the unworkability of a pattern before we're willing to give it up. It often seems, in fact, that our lives get worse rather than better when we begin to work deeply on ourselves. Life doesn't actually get worse; it's just that we feel our own transgressions more because we're no longer anesthetized by unconsciousness." What a powerful statement.
We are no longer anesthetized by unconsciousness. We are awake and we see. In every moment we see. So get in the ring of Self Evolution and keep asking for those opportunities. Become gratefully aware of your own self-growth and love hanging out with yourself. Especially when you are not your best. That's when you need yourself the most.
