Insights from PJ National

Like the branches of an old oak tree, the observance of Tu B'Shevat is spreading.

With the rising concern about climate change, the Jewish New Year of the Trees, (Wednesday, February 8, beginning the evening prior), offers an opportune wintry moment to plant and nurture a commitment to preserve our precious environment.

May the little sprouts in your house continue growing up healthy and strong.

Nurturing Healthy Roots

It's not just trees that require healthy roots to be big and strong; humans need them, too. In honor of Tu B'Shevat we offer some worldly wisdom on nurturing healthy roots in children.

This Coming Week! Knitzvah a Mitzvah! Join Us!

Tuesday, January 31, 2012 - 3:45pm to 4:45pm

In Collaboration with Jewish Family Services

Levy Family Campus - 14855 Oka Road, Los Gatos

Come knit a delightful craft gift for a child in need! And knit another craft to take home and enjoy.

Girl KnittingHave fun with members of a wonderful volunteer group sponsored by Jewish Family Services: Knitzvah, which provides knitted projects to help newborns, children and seniors.

This project is ideal for children 4 to 7 years old, but younger children are always welcome. Each child will make two yarn crafts, one to take home and one to donate to Knitzvah to be given to children in our community. There will, of course, be our usual story time, songs, and snack.

It's an opportunity to have fun and do a good deed at the same time. Please also consider bringing a new or gently used child's backpack to donate to a Children's Center. Thank you.
