A lot of people I know are going through transition. They are in the midst of re-identifying themselves in some way. Whether it's a relationship change, career change, or a new discovery that requires some adjusting, all of it requires faith. While we are going through transition, it is very difficult to know the forest from the trees, and sometimes it requires blind faith to trust that we are moving in the right direction.
Sometimes we have to have blind faith that requires a trusting in the unknown, despite appearances. This may initially feel unnatural because after all, who are we trusting, if not our own faculties? And what if, at best, we can't even trust those?
Today we explore the issue of blind faith and some things to keep in mind.

"You don't have to trust in the unknown. Just disperse of distrust" I Ching
If you read my memos, you've probably seen my mention of this quote a number of times because I think it is essential in faith building. It is a saying that came out of a hexagram interpretation in the I Ching and I think it's a really good place to start. At first, we may not know how to trust, or even what to place our trust in, but we can learn how to "disperse of distrust". When creating something new, there is always a time lapse between our vision and it's manifestation. The difficult part is trusting we are on the right path, in spite of what it might look like (and all the side stepping that can occur) while we are getting there.
I love Mike Dooley's analogy. He says when we are taking a cruise and we are en route from one destination to another, the view from the cabin window can appear like we are not moving. But we never doubt that we are going to arrive at our destination. The art of creating is very similar. We have put in our order with the universe. We are en route to exactly what we want. But sometimes the scenery can look drudgingly the same, until one day, it doesn't. You've heard of people say that their "overnight success" was 10 years in the making. I get a daily reminder from Mary Morrissey (see Sonya Recommends). A while ago, she sent one that is appropriate to this topic of faith, emergence and the trials that we sometimes go through living a spiritual life. She sums it up with the analogy of the Chinese Bamboo. She writes: "Have you ever heard how Chinese bamboo grows? Chinese bamboo is a very slow-growing plant. It grows two inches a year only if it is cared for and nurtured and really watched over because it's also a fragile plant.
So if the bamboo is cared for and watched over and nurtured, in one year it grows two inches, in the next year it grows two inches, in the next year it grows two inches, in the next year it grows two inches, and then in the fifth year it grows 80 feet!
Our lives are like that. Sometimes it feels like we're studying and practicing and remembering and putting our focus on feeling our hearts and opening our minds. We're living in expanded awareness and it hardly seems like anything is happening. But then all of a sudden, it feels as if our whole lives have moved to a whole new level.
So today, just take time to nurture that which is real. Take time to nurture thoughts that are kind and loving about yourself and about your world. What you'll notice over time is you'll look back and you'll go, "this is a whole new life, how did this happen?" Well, it happened a little at a time and all at once." From Mary Morrisey's Daily Dream Builder In other words, the message this week is to be patient and know that despite appearances, there is something vital happening. Have faith. Disperse of distrust. Know that something deep is being rooted. And prepare for your emergence.
