~ Marianne Williamson - from A Return To Love: Reflections from a Course in Miracles
This is easily one of those quotes you want to post somewhere and read often. If you read this and it feels good to you, it's because something inside of you resonates with it.
Don't you ever ask that question of yourself? I know I can be doing better. I know I can be making more. I know I'm not utilizing my full potential. I know it's in me to be the powerful creator I know I am. So, WHY am I not living it? Why am I not being it?
Usually the reasons are some variation of fear, maybe even unconscious fear. Fear of outshining others. Fear of surpassing your parents. Fear of outgrowing your marriage. Fear of public scrutiny. Fear of more attention.Fear of less attention. Fear of failure. Fear of success. Fear of outgrowing or losing your friendships. Fear of outshining your boss or colleagues. Fear of making others feel inadequate. Fear of lonliness. Fear of more responsibility. Fear of Fear of rejection. In other words, fear ad nauseam.
You've heard the old acronym for FEAR, haven't you? False Evidence Appearing Real?
We conjure up fears of what might happen if we were to step out a little bigger. We stop ourselves in our tracks and we say No way. Too scary. Why complicate my life? Why be uncomfortable? Why take the risk? It's been working well so far. Why ruffle feathers? I'll just stay put where I am.
But for some of us, staying small is no longer an option. We have been asking for growth. We have been asking for a fuller expression of ourselves. We've been asking for change, for a long time. We've been wanting happiness to show up for us in different ways than our children or material things. Living the status quo has stopped working for us and we are too conscious to keep lulling ourselves into staying small, or worse, in continuing to allow ourselves to stay stuck.
If this describes you, you know who you are.
It is true. We may have to face some fears, real or imagined, to claim the more of ourselves that is seeking expression. But here's another acronym that applies as equally well for FEAR (that I like even better): Face Everything And Recover.
Like anything else you've ever done that you've been afraid of. Once you do it, the fear dissipates. The only way out is through. A plant cannot push itself back into its seed. It grows in the direction of the sun.
We gravitate in the direction of our light.
The good news is, there is something inside that is leading us to our fuller expression. It knows the way and the path. But we have to be willing to yield to the unknown to allow for the known to reveal itself. We have to be willing to take the next step in faith.
So the question for you this week is: What is one action you can take, , that will bring you more into your power? What is one belief, thought or behavior that keeps you feeling "small" or "stuck", that you can let go of?
Go for broke, . You are here to shine your light. Think of it this way, for those of you who are rallying for global peace or global change: It happens one consciousness at a time. You walk into a dark room with one small tealight glowing and there's not much chance to navigate through the darkness. But think of that same room with 100's or 1000's or hundreds of thousand of tealights aflame. Now. We are walking in the light.
You are that flame, . So, grow it. Consider it your civic duty or global responsibility. Be bright. If not for yourself, then, at least, for the rest of us.
