Help
Greetings!

Happy Wednesday.

Oooh.. went the wind! Out went the lights! Halloween has come and gone... THAT CAN'T BE RIGHT!

It's true, October has gone and November is here. Although leaves have turned, the air is crisp and cool, and smells of wood stoves fill the air, we still hear the laughter from children playing everywhere. So, get creative, have fun, and be resourceful.

For the month of November, I-Care will focus on resources to help you manage children's CHALLENGING BEHAVIORS.

Help us help you! Share some of your past or present behavior challenges and receive a FREE children's book.

Lev Vygotsky

She is so angry! At times she screams "No" when I want her to transition to the next activity. She throws toys at you when you get close to her.  She rushes for the front of the line all the time and pushes anyone in her way. She only picks at her food at lunch time and is one of the first to finish. If I can't sit with her at rest, she fidgits and then begins to run around the room touching and talking to the sleeping children. She is impulsive and very defiant. Not to mention, I am exhausted by the end of the day. Her parents are embarrased and feeling the same as I am... EXHAUSTED! Please help!

Does this sound familiar? This is a typical story from a provider just like you. This provider tried everything in her bag of tricks. She couldn't think of anything else and was just loosing her control. That's when she saw a brochure sitting on her desk about APPLES Early Childhood Destination: Inclusion. As she read through it, she discovered the steps to take:

  • Call or email the Help Line to talk with APPLES about your concerns
  • Arrange a time to meet that works with your schedule
  • Help APPLES see what you see by inviting them to observe the child in your program
  • Arrange a time to discuss what you both saw and plan ways to address the child's needs
  • Arrange a time to meet with APPLES and the child's parent to review observations and the plan
  • Everyone works together to support the child's needs

 APPLES Early Childhood Destination: Inclusion

helps child care programs understand and meet the social and emotional needs of children from birth to five years old. The project is a FREE service to any Western Maryland family child care provider, child care center, and the children and families in their care.
