In May of 2010 the LOCATE service for Western Maryland, formerly housed at APPLES for Children, was consolidated into one state-wide call center in Baltimore. Change brings challenges as well as opportunities. Let APPLES help you with both as you work on recruiting additional children and families.
The primary constituency or service group for LOCATE is families searching for child care, but LOCATE also helps child care providers. There are two ways to keep your provider profile current in the LOCATE database, in order to use the search service to publicize your child care program and reach out to families. You can update your LOCATE profile either on-line or by phone.
To change your current profile or add vacancy information on-line go to www.mdchildcare.org:
- Click on the For child care providers button;
- Click on Update Your Contact, Vacancy and Fee Information link (2nd link from top of page);
- The information you type in is automatically and electronically downloaded into your record for families to see on-line and LOCATE counselors to use in phone searches.
To change your current profile or add vacancy information by phone call the 24-hour Provider Support Line at 1-866-752-1614:
- Listen to the voice mail message and leave the information requested;
- Your information is entered into your record by a LOCATE staff member for families to see on-line and LOCATE counselors to use in phone searches;
- You will only receive a return call if you request one.
