Lots of people tell me that they just don't know what they want. They feel adrift, not sure where they are heading or why. They've spent so long denying themselves what they want they no longer know what it is , or even dare to think about it.
This simple tool will help you dream a bit about the way you would love to feel and live your life. Dig deep and find what it is that you most desire, I want you to wake up your imagination and your sense of adventure. Be brave, use your imagination - Dare to dream!
In your scrap book or as I prefer to call it 'Dream Log' you will put images and motivational phrases that will be a reminder and inspire you towards the dream you would love your everyday life to be.
How often do you think that you would like to do something but never get around to doing it?
How often do you see an image in a magazine that makes you want to live your life differently?
If you don't cut out these images the memory is lost and you'll probably forget about the idea forever.
You could of course just create a list of things to do to improve and change the way you live your life, but lists are not very inspiring , are they? Once you have identified what you would like to do, how you want to feel each day, you can focus on and seek out this in your everyday life.
Getting started is easy, just start cutting out images that appeal to you. People, places, things.
You can sort them into categories in your log if you like, maybe:
When I first started my log I was suprised at the images I selected. I thought that my ideal home was minimalist and trendy, but I was cutting out images of country gardens, and cosyness - a revelation for me!
There are no rules on how you create your 'Dream Log'. It is a very personal thing and entirely up to you .
It is important however, that you do not limit your images by thinking you could never afford or be that particular image. Your subconscious will start the search for you.
You may find something different, more achievable that will satisfy your dream. Just cut the image out, even if you can't imagine how on earth you will ever have or be it!
'Dream Log'
Ingredients
- A Scrap book (that you like the look and feel of)
- Magazines add in some aspirational, glossy ones you don't often buy)
- Travel brochures (cruises, adventure, weekend breaks etc)
- Scissors
- Pritt stick
- Coloured pens
- Large glass of your favorite tipple
- A CD of your favorite music
- Few hours to yourself! (to get it started)
Once you have completed your log remember to read it each day, preferably when you get up and just before you go to sleep. Update it with images as and when you find them but remember to update it every 3 months or so.
It is important that you write a date somewhere on the page when you want to achieve this goal (a dream with a date stamp!) as written goals have a much higher chance of success.
Don't be overwhelmed by the images your log contains if they are very different from the life you lead now. It is important that you just enjoy this tool.
Take time, don't try and achieve every thing at once. If you do you will find that you give up after a few weeks. Just let it slowly seep into your mind and influence your thoughts and make small, subtle changes.
By using this tool you can reconnect to your dreams and little by little you can start to live and feel the way you want to feel everyday.
Enjoy! |
