Energy Innovation Corridor delivers incredible results
|
The first 18-months of results are in and they're really something to write home about. Due to the unprecedented collaboration of all of the partners involved, we are thrilled to report 450,423,766 pounds of carbon were avoided, exceeding our goal for the time period (165% of goal). The economic impact of $9,970,273 also significantly exceeded goal (146% of goal). And we aren't stopping there - the EIC partners recently met and are finalizing goals for the next 12-months. Check out the results in more detail, peruse the showcase and get the resources for your own success. |

Energy Innovation Corridor video breaks it down |
What is the EIC all about anyway? The EIC is an area located along the planned central corridor light rail and is a showcase of energy efficiency, renewable energy, transportation and smart technology. It's the perfect proving ground for these areas of focus, which benefit the communities in its path and can be replicated anywhere. Watch the video.

Drive down transportation costs with natural gas vehicles
Businesses across Minnesota are discovering that natural gas vehicles (NGVs) are an economical and eco-friendly option for their fleet vehicles. While increasing numbers of environmentally conscious consumers are purchasing NGVs, the largest market currently for these types of vehicles is fleet transportation. Natural gas' affordability, abundance and smaller carbon footprint have many commercial businesses exploring how natural gas can offer clean transportation solutions. Purchasing new isn't the only option. Existing light-or heavy-duty gasoline or diesel vehicles can also be converted to natural gas using certified installers. Why consider natural gas for your fleet? Natural gas is affordable, abundant, domestic and better for the environment. Get more information about CenterPoint Energy's NGV transportation solution.
Solar*Rewards
Talk about success! Minnesotans embraced solar and the $4.6 million of funding for Xcel Energy's Solar*Rewards program for Minnesota has been exhausted for 2011. But there's more good news - in 2012 another $4.6 million will be available. The Minnesota Bonus, a program that provides additional incentives for the use of qualifying Minnesota-made panels, currently has a budget of $4 million for the funding period July 1, 2011 - June 30, 2012. The next Minnesota Bonus budget period beginning July 1, 2012 will have $5 million available. So get ready for a bright new year.
