Greetings!
I'm writing this newsletter thinking is it really March? How did we get three months into 2009 already?
I have always been a quasi physicist and as a I get older I understand more completely that time is not a constant. As a busy parent with a private practice a year from now does not seem very long, unlike the college years when summers seemed like small eternities.
Most everyone knows that Einstein proved that time is relative, not absolute as Newton claimed. For those of you who just don't relate to physics, how about this? Let's take the same one hour. What feels longer dinner with a beautiful woman or your hand on a hot stove? It's relative to your frame of reference. (If you said the hot stove we need to talk!)
What's your frame of reference in your life today? Is it laser beam focused on your career so that it leaves little time for your friends and family, or worse yet time for yourself? Spring Break is here. Take advantage of the time with your kids, if your single reward yourself for your hard work.
Take some personal time for yourself. For those of you that have had this conversation with me, usually the moms, make yourself a priority. Just as much as dads focus on work or teenagers on there things, moms tend to forget the amount of time they spend doing for everyone else. Before you know it's been a week without a shower, a month without a workout, and maybe even a year without a date night.
Spring break dates back to 1935 and at the end of WWII Florida became the Spring Break capital of the world. Allow your self the guilt free indulgence to relax with your friends and family this break. All your worries and problems will still be there waiting for you when you return, hopefully you'll have a renewed perspective to deal with them! |

6 Universal Things All People Need
1. Certainty. Everyone wants certainty in their life. Certainty can help us avoid pain and increase our comfort level. There are lots of ways people get certainty in there lives some are good, some are not so good. You can get certainty for yourself by being the one in control, develop a new skill, or get organized . Other not so good choices may include doing drugs or even smoking. We all have our ways of creating a feeling of certainty.
2. Uncertainty. God, in her infinite wisdom, knew we would be bored out of our minds if we had total certainty so we also need surprises and variety. We like surprises and the ones we don't like we call problems. Spice is the variety of life!
3. Significance. We all need to have importance. We all want to feel special and be significant on some level. Some of us work our entire lives to be respected by our peers and rise to the top in a profession. While others get instant significance through violence. Both scenarios create a feeling of importance. Obviously the violent actions are very easy to create and short lived. 4. Connection or Love with others. As a person its essential to have a connection to others. Most people settle for connection because unconditional love is to scary. Connecting with others is vital for our survival as a healthy individual and as a community as a whole. We can connect with each other and mother nature through intimacy, friendship, prayer or even a walk on the beach. 5. Growth. People, relationships, business all must have growth. We must grow to have something of value to give.
6. Contribute beyond ourselves. One of the highest conditions of man is to serve others.
We are all driven by these needs and what we put as the top needs leads us in the direction we choose to go. It can be a tremendous benefit to take notice of what true needs you seek. |
Chiropractic Miracle
This story happens in chiropractic offices all around the world. It makes me personally have tremendous pride for being in the chiropractic profession.
There are plenty of skeptics in this world and we sometimes tend to focus on their words. It's testimonials like this that remind chiropractors why we do what we do and that there is a higher purpose to our work rather than just pain relief.

5th Graders Lose Chairs At One School Balance Balls Replace Chairs In New Jersey Posted: 9:29 am EDT March 10, 2009
"How cool is this?" Posture is how we determine if your spine and nervous system are functioning properly. Now the kids are giving their own testimonials!
One school in New Jersey has taken chairs away from its fifth-graders.
The students in Shannon Lekas' classroom now sit on inflatable balance balls, News 12 in New Jersey reported. "I liked the educational component that came with it, having them really learn about why the ball really benefits them," Lekas said. Students read information that told them the balls help with circulation to the brain, as well as posture and balance.
One student noticed a big difference when he tried to sit in a chair for an interview. "I'm kind of slouching right now, because I'm just used to doing that, but on a stability ball, it's uncomfortable to slouch so you sit up more straight," Charlie Bodell said.
