MillfoilAquatic Invasive Species - Do you know what to look for?

Aquatic invasive species are nonnative animals and plants that live in, on or next to water and are likely to cause harm to the economy, environment or human health. As part of Grant PUD's Aquatic Invasive Species Control and Prevention Plan, staff will be conducting voluntary boater surveys at major boat launches during the 2011 recreation season.

If you are a boater, angler or aquatic recreation user, you can benefit from a short, on-line training designed to teach steps to stop aquatic hitchhikers.  Once training is complete you will receive a certificate that shows authorities you are doing your part to control invasive species. Visit www.100thmeridian.org for more information.

Boat Safety  Boating Safety - Be Aware

A successful day on the Priest Rapids Project is a safe day. Watch for environmental changes that can impact your experience on the water, including wind, sun, noise, glare, dehydration, tiredness and alcohol consumption. .Any combination of these stressors can affect on your judgment when operating a boat.

The state of Washington is phasing in mandatory boater safety education for all boaters by the year 2015. Each year, a new age group will need to carry a Washington Boater Safety Education Card. If you are required by law to have this card, then you must carry it on board the vessel while it is being operated. For more information, go to http://boat.wa.gov/safety-ed.asp.
