  I thought that I would try something new.  A number of my customers have expressed interest in a newsletter to keep them informed of what's going on in the marine industry, and what's new in Marine electronics and Hi-Tech gadgets.  I will do my best to keep you informed. 
  How would you like to be able to turn on your underwater lights with your cellphone?  View live video of your vessel from any high speed internet connection?  How about a tracking device which reports vessel position via email & text messaging?  Radars have come a long way, Furuno for example introduced the NavNet 3D system with their UHD radar capable of distinguishing individual targets in a crowded harbor.  Advances in High definition fishfinding and Broadband transducers have greatly enhanced fishfinding capabilities.
FLIR's introduction of the Navigator series thermal imaging video cameras has made night vision affordable.

If you own a Northstar 941, 951, 952, 961, or 962 you may need
an immediate software update to be able to function properly. 
If you are experiencing sporadic satellite acquisition and tracking chances are that you will require the update. Units manufactured between 2003 and 2007 are affected.  We can perform the update free of charge if you bring the unit in to the shop.  Standard service rates will apply for onboard service.
