Our club was saddened this weekend to learn of the passing of long time Rotarian, Nina Morean. Her fight to beat cancer was a lesson in grace and dignity.
Nina played a role in a watershed moment in Rotary history when, in 1987, she was one of the first women to enjoy the opportunity to be admitted as a member. She became a Paul Harris Fellow in 2000. Nina was an active supporter of the club's activities within the community. She lent her talents to the annual auction and is well remembered for her dogged entreaties to members to update their information for the annual roster publication.
A vital business woman, mother, daughter to Ernie, and wife to Gary, she will be remembered for her determination to endure and overcome. |

May 9th - Roberta "Birdie" Davenport - The Mima Mounds
The Mima Mounds Natural Area Preserve (NAP) was established in 1976 to protect rare examples of mima mound landforms and Puget prairie grasslands. Scientists continue to debate the mounds' origins. Was it the thawing and freezing during the last ice age that caused the land to buckle? Or perhaps pocket gophers were at work, having since moved on to haunt golf courses?

May 16th - Randy Hudson, Red Cross
Randy Hudson is the Regional CEO of the Red Cross Western Washington Chapters. Find out what's happening with our local Red Cross operations, meet the new Rainier Chapter CEO Tracy Peacock and learn about the commitment to Red Cross mission delivery and community involvement in Grays Harbor.

May 23rd - Chris Barron, Partnership for Learning
Mr. Barron will explain the creation of A+ Washington, a road map to transform education in our state. The plan provides educators, parents, and community members with systems and support needed to better serve our children. |

Applications now open for Legacy Scholarship
Each year the club awards the Legacy Scholarship to the relative of a club member. Traditionally we look to a graduating senior to receive the scholarship. There is no form to fill out for this. Just email the information to our Scholarship Chair, Gary Morean.
