SPD Summer Bike Patrol | |

With the increase in warm weather, the Spokane Police Department will transfer two patrol officers to work bike patrol for the next several months. The officers will be riding their police bicycles throughout Downtown, generally Monday-Friday, 10am-8pm. The goal is to provide a visible police presence within Downtown's congested retail zone. A nighttime patrol supplements this activity Friday and Saturday nights generally 8pm-3am, a direct result of the Downtown Business Improvement District's partnership with the police department.
The officers were already out during spring break and will continue in May through September. The officers will enforce both criminal and non-criminal violations, as well as responses to calls for service. During the summer months, police see an increase in Downtown population and their primary objective is to ensure every visitor has a safe and enjoyable experience. |

Smart Parking Tips:
- Never leave anything of value in plain sight. Place all shopping bags in the trunk, not in the front or back seats where they are visible.
- Always have your keys ready when approaching a car.
- Never leave pets unattended in your vehicle, especially during the summer months.
- When using public parking lots, be sure to use a key or the tool on the parking pay box to push your money fully in the slots.
