Leonardo da Vinci is at the MAC... Are You?


Don't miss the opportunity to see the world-class exhibit of the great inventor and artist, Leonardo da Vinci. The major traveling exhibition runs June 3rd-September 5th at the Northwest Museum of Arts and Culture (MAC), and will be featuring over 60 invention models and 23 replicated artistic masterpieces.

century.

Catch a Free Carriage Ride this Summer

Summer carriage rides 

Join a friend or loved one at the corner of Wall and Main for a one-of-a-kind view of Downtown from the seat of a horse-drawn carriage. Rides are from 5-9pm every Friday in July and August. Riders can enjoy a fresh flower and the steady sound of horse hooves on an elegant ride through the streets of Downtown.

 

Sponsored by STCU and the Downtown Business Improvement District, the rides are provided by Spencer Carriages and complimentary flowers by Peters and Sons.

Spokane Parks & Recreation has initiated a new master planning effort for Riverfront Park. As a part of Downtown Spokane, you may be interested in the future direction of the park. Stakeholders will play a pivotal role in this process. Please spend a few minutes filling out a short survey. Fourth of July Celebration!


Riverfront Park is proud to host Spokane's annual 4th of July Celebration. Fireworks, music, food, entertainment, amusement rides and your organization will make a day of lasting memories for over 65,000 guests at Riverfront Park.
  
Downtown FireworksDowntown businesses and organizations have a great opportunity to reserve an information and activity booth for this annual community celebration. The special price for a commercial booth is $250 and a non-profit is $40.

Is Your Urban Design Award Worthy?

Mayor Mary Verner announced that the City is seeking applications for the 2011 Mayor's Urban Design Awards. "Spokane's image is defined by how it's seen and experienced from our walkways, streets, and other public places," says Mayor Verner. "Through this program, we want to encourage creatively designed projects and places that Spokane citizens will enjoy and be proud of. This program will recognize the best of these places."  

Award applications are due by noon on Monday, Aug. 1. Projects submitted for consideration must be completed between Jan. 1, 2005, and Aug. 1, 2011. All entries will be on display in the River Park Square shopping center from Monday, Aug. 29, through Wednesday, Sept. 21, and citizens will be able to vote for their favorite submitted design.
