Dear
Everyone (in a big or small way) is working towards a cleaner, greener future.
For my part, becoming a grand-father for the first time last year, has made me more conscious than ever about the kind of world we'll leave behind. Anyway, I reckon it's always nice to know when things we're doing are ACTUALLY making a difference.
That's how I felt when I read the following bit of info: The Australian New Vehicle Market recorded its lowest ever emissions figure, continuing a positive trend. The result was driven by technology improvements and a change in consumer buying preferences.
The Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries recently announced a national average carbon emission figure for 2010 of 212.6 grams of CO2 per kilometer - down 2.7 per cent on 2009.
In 2002 the figure was a whopping 252.4g, so we've come a long way since then.
FCAI chief Andrew McKellar said there had been a strong uptake in new-generation diesel vehicles, hybrids as well as constant updates to the traditional petrol engine.
Remember, Honda's new hybrid? The 5-door petrol-electric Insight is Australia's cheapest Hybrid.
You can see it here at Bunbury Honda.
kind regards Raymond Jones Principal
