Dear
In our years of experience in selling Hondas, we have come to understand that our customers are a pretty passionate bunch.
"I LOVE my Honda", is something we commonly hear which, of course, just makes our day!
With this in mind, we thought you might enjoy startling your friends at a dinner party soon with the below short bits of trivia we've collected about Honda's early days.
Kind regards

A short history of Honda |
As a young man, Honda's founder Soichiro Honda worked as a mechanic at a Japanese turning shop where he tuned cars and entered them in races;
A self-taught engineer, Soichiro later won a contract with Toyota to produce pistons he had designed himself - but not before pawning his wife's jewellery for the money to perfect his creation!
It was his novel idea of attaching a small engine to his bicycle which attracted much curiosity but caught on in petrol-starved post World War II Japan whose citizens were in dire need of an inexpensive, fuel efficient mode of transport.
The Japan-based Honda Motor Company was founded in 1948 and began life producing motorbikes.
In the early 1960s the company turned its hand to automobiles.
The rest, as they say, is History!
Catch you again next month with probably some more useless (but you have to admit pretty intriguing!) facts. |
