When I was working as an apprentice hairdresser at a Bunbury barber shop in the late 60s, Saturday was our busiest day of the week.
The shop stood where the HBF office is today (across the road from Centrepoint Shopping Centre) and when the doors opened at 8am, there would already be a line of blokes running down the street.
A short back and sides was the go in those days and it had to be done every couple of weeks.
Of course for the local working class, Saturday was the only day they could come in.
They'd be in and out within about 15 minutes but the experience was all pretty theatrical by today's standards.
Lots of shaving cream and the traditional cut-throat razor got the job done. Sounds like a scene from the movies doesn't it?
Anyway, the reason I've been reminiscing about my Saturdays at the barber shop in Bunbury is because I'm keen to find out if our customers would like to get their car serviced on a Saturday.
The way I see it, it's part of my job to make your life easier in whatever way I can.
I'm the first to admit that organising for your car to be serviced can be a pain in the butt.
That's why I'm willing, if it will help you out, to throw open the doors of our Service Centre on a Saturday.
Would servicing on a Saturday make your life easier?
And while we're on the subject of extended trading hours, there's clearly a great deal of public support for seven-day trading in Bunbury.
Would you like to see car yards open on a Sunday too? Love to hear your thoughts.
