December 2010
The holiday season is upon us. I hope, no matter how hectic and busy we drive
ourselves that you take the time to sit for even just a few moments to contemplate the
quiet beauty of winter and reflect upon the miracles of life. “What comes around goes
around” is often spoken in association with some negative event as a vengeful consequence.
I like to look at it as a way to promote the opposite more positive sentiment of planting
seeds of good will for the future. Perhaps this season we all could find a way to be the
tiniest of miracles for someone else. I promise to you that that miracle will come back
to you! Happy Holidays to all.
In this Edition of our Newsletter you will learn about our New Dr. Tim’s Weight Loss Plan,
expose 7 Holiday wives’ tales, get special Holiday savings, learn about our newest product
and we remind you about a fun holiday treat with Goji juice.

DR. TIM’S WEIGHT LOSS PLAN | With Acai Detox-Rx,
Brazilian
Acai Juice & Jungle Juice
This is a really simple plan. We have combined the most effective ingredients to support
and aid you in your efforts to lose weight and maintain a healthy lifestyle. Our products
are designed to follow the oath I took as a young doctor to “First Do No Harm”. Begin with
the “Jump Start” option using our Dr. Tim’s Acai Detox-Rx for a clean start. This will
help you flush toxins, fat & free radicals while eliminating excess water weight. This
fresh and healthy cellular Detox will help to support your body as you follow through with
the rest of the plan below.
#1. DR. TIM’S ACAI DETOX-Rx
ALL NATURAL DIETARY CLEANSE FORMULA
I developed Dr. Tim’s Acai Detox-Rx to help those who want an effective and efficient
detoxifying agent in an easy to drink juice. It is a great way to jump start your
cleansing program and goes along with your diet and weight loss efforts. I recommend that
you use our Detox-Rx 2 days prior to starting the Weight Loss Plan for optimum effect.
Dr. Tim’s Acai Detox-Rx combines the powerful antioxidants of Acai with one of the most
effective cleansing herbal blends, our own proprietary DT27 Complex. Acai is a remarkable
fruit and provides powerful antioxidants that help with cleansing and rejuvenation. But
Acai alone won’t do the job nearly as well without our DT27 Complex. DT27 Complex was
designed to affect an efficient and thorough cleansing and detoxification flushing toxins,
fat and free radicals from the body. This all natural scientifically designed and
medically approved formula supports metabolic restoration and cellular rejuvenation
eliminating excess water weight and bloating.
Dr. Tim’s Acai Detox-Rx tastes great. When mixed properly it has a delicious Acai tea flavor that makes it an easy addition to your
personal health-care plan. It is gentle yet effective and you will be pleased with the
results.
#2. Dr. Tim’s Brazilian Acai
Juice Next, I recommend that you take 1 ounce of Dr. Tim’s
Brazilian Acai in the morning and then again 30 minutes before your evening meal. You may
also supplement with more Acai during the day if you get hungry. It works great to help
you overcome those “munchy/snacky” times of the day. The Acai works to provide powerful
antioxidants, anthocyanins, fiber, protein, vitamins, iron and other nutrients that help
cleanse and support your body functions to boost your efforts at weight loss. You can add
additional Acai shots throughout the day as needed.
#3. Dr. Tim’s Jungle Juice All natural real energy
Then you will take at least ½ of the Jungle Juice mid morning and the other half mid
afternoon to safely boost your energy levels. You may drink the entire bottle of Jungle
Juice in the morning or afternoon as well. Remember that Jungle Juice will provide hours
of focused energy. Jungle Juice works by fueling your energy plant in your cells called
the Mitochondria. It then works to mobilize fat to be burned as fuel and create more
energy for you. Then it delivers a powerful appetite suppressant to stave off the
munchies.
#4. Low Glycemic Food Plan
I recommend that you follow a low-glycemic diet and that you
add 45 to 60 minutes of moderate to vigorous exercise. You can find more about the
glycemic index at www.glycemicindex.com.
#5. Exercise Plan
If exercise is a new element in your daily routine and be sure to check
with your doctor to make sure that you are healthy enough to start an exercise program.
Then start with 30 minutes of walking 3 to 5 times a week and build to 45 to 60 minutes a
day 5 to 6 times a week. Working up a good sweat and getting your heart rate up to fat
burning zone will feel tough at first but then your body will develop a craving for this.
Remember that typically it tales about 2 ½ weeks or so for your body to adjust to the new
demands you are making on it both from an exercise requirement and a food intake change.
Make a plan that allows you to achieve this goal over a 30 day period or longer if needed.
Don’t beat yourself up if you miss a day here or there. If you miss a day or two or
three just accept it and get back on track, you can do this. Also, set reasonable
expectations regarding the amount of weight you want to lose and a healthy time period in
which to achieve your goal. And finally be careful about the foods you eat. This is where
following a low-glycemic diet plan works with you for success. Remember, in the end, it
is all about the calories in vs. the calories out.
To Your Success, Dr. Tim
1- Rich food can make your feet hurt: TRUTH
Changes in diet, including overindulging in
certain foods and beverages, can cause gout attacks this time of year. Gout attacks are
extremely painful. They are caused when uric acid accumulates in the tissues or a joint
and crystallizes. This most commonly occurs in the big toe joint, because the toe is the
coolest part of the body and uric acid is sensitive to temperature changes. ACFAS foot and
ankle surgeons say foods that are high in purines contribute to uric acid build-up. They
recommend that people prone to gout attacks avoid purine-rich items such as shellfish
(shrimp, crab, etc.), organ meats (kidney, liver, etc.), red meat, red wine and beer. Gout
can be treated with medications, diet changes, increasing consumption of appropriate
fluids, and elevating and immobilizing the foot.
2- Eating at night makes you fat: MYTH
There's no research to support the belief that eating before bed causes more weight gain.
There are benefits of eating meals at consistent times, but only because it helps limit
overall intake of daily calories. “The time of day a person eats is not as important for overall weight gain as the amount
of calories eaten during the day,” says Jeannie Gazzaniga-Moloo PhD, RD, a spokesperson
for the American Dietetic Association. Avoid your favorite go-to comfort foods before bed,
she says, but don’t fret if your dinner gets pushed back a few hours.
3- Poinsettia’s are poisonous: MYTH
The beautiful and traditional holiday plant with its
velvet red and white leaves are not toxic. You may get diarrhea or an upset stomach from
ingesting the leaves of this plant but this is rare and you would have to consume a large
amount of the plant material. An analysis of over 22,000 case reports of poinsettia
ingestion revealed no significant poisoning according to the American Association of
Poison Control Centers.
4- Mistletoe is noxious: TRUTH
This seemingly benign parasitic
holiday adornment hung in the hopes of attaining triumphant osculating joy has a dark side
that can be pernicious and harmful. Mistletoe berries are toxic to infants and toddlers.
5- Suicides increase during the holidays: MYTH
This myth is perpetuated by the reasoning of
shorter days, less sunlight, stress and the perceived notion of loneliness during the
holidays. The truth of the matter is that studies show that suicides are more prevalent
during the warm months of summer.
6- You can prevent a hangover: TRUTH
This comes from the department of the incredibly obvious! Simply by limiting your alcohol
intake will keep a hangover away. However there is more to this one since hangovers are a result of
dehydration. The over consumption of alcohol with the added salt from food creates a
condition of dehydration. By using a drink high in all 5 essential electrolytes like
coconut water as in ISO-5 you can protect the hydration of your cells and stave off the
harrowing hangover headaches and other symptoms.
7- The holidays pack on 5 to 10 lb: MYTH
During the Holidays it feels like our clothes get tighter with every party and snack. The
truth is that studies show that on the average people will gain about 1 pound between
Thanksgiving and New Years. But a pound is a pound and it is important to keep exercising
and think more about control and not denial. One good idea that can help tons (pun
intended) is to package up all of those great holiday treats as they begin to arrive. Go
ahead and taste them then wrap them up and put them in the freezer. Then on your favorite
holiday day be it Christmas, New Years etc pull them out and set them up buffet style and
have fun. Then at the end of the day get rid of whatever is left over. That way you are
neither deprived nor decadently indulged and you can still enjoy them.
Goji juice and Goji berries in China are available in the pharmacy as a prescription
medication. They use Goji berries in soup much like we here in North America use chicken
soup to help with a cold. But we found out how to merge the two into a delicious Holiday
treat. Mix ½ bottle of Dr. Tim’s Tibetan Goji juice in a saucepan with ½ tsp nutmeg and ¼
tsp ground cloves with I can of apple juice concentrate and 8 ounces of water. Bring to a
boil and then reduce to a simmer. Let it simmer for only 3 to 5 minutes. Then enjoy this
amazingly delicious Holiday antioxidant rich drink. It has become a Holiday favorite in
many households.
