Greetings!

Happy New Year! This is the first of a series of articles that I promised as a gift to all of our great customers.  This New Year brings a lot of change.  From the highest position of administration and government to ourselves.   Healthcare will feature prominent in the months and years to come.  We will see a massive overhaul of our nation's healthcare system.  Without it we could witness a total collapse of healthcare in the United States.  Our government has its work cut out for them.  But the real "bailout" of healthcare starts with us.

Being healthy and staying healthy is our responsibility.  We have been subject to the marketing strategies of the past that have bombarded us with fast, easy and immediate satisfaction.  From financial investments to supersizing our food choices to magic "diet pill" scams we have indulged and glutted ourselves.  In this year of change I invite all to implement personal change regarding your health and how we care for it and how to get the most out of medical care.

  • Lower your blood sugar levels.
  • Lower your HbA1c.
  • Reduce "highs" and "lows".
  • Help you lose weight. Reduce your risk of heart disease.
Then add a reasonable exercise program that can be done regularly.  If you haven't exercised for some time then consult with your doctor.  Ask about safe intensity levels for exercising.  What may surprise you is the fact that you may see more sustainable positive results from a program that is regular at moderate intensity levels.  Talk to your doctor about BMI or Body Mass Index.  Here is another link (http://www.nhlbisupport.com/bmi/) that will help you calculate your BMI.

Acai diet pill scam finally exposed on national TV
Finally the media has caught up with these internet scammers taking advantage of the goodness of Acai BBB

The Better Business Bureau has recently issued a warning about these scams. .   Here is the link to the BBB warning letter http://us.bbb.org/WWWRoot/SitePage.aspx?site=113&id=1869d6a9-82aa-49a1-8419-40a8251fa916&art=8493.  Yvonne Zanos of KDKA of Pittsburgh reported "It's not the berries that the Better Business Bureau is warning against. It's some of the companies who sell them and other health and weight loss products.  
 
"Consumers are being charged unauthorized charges. They are also indicating that they are not receiving the products," said Warren King, President of the Pittsburgh Better Business Bureau." Reporter Susan Donaldson James of ABC News said "The bureau (BBB) released a statement today warning consumers to be wary of online sales offers for acai berry-related weight loss products, saying the marketing of these products is often misleading. The bureau said it has received "thousands" of complaints from consumers about online sales of acai berry products.

In a scheme called "negative option" advertising, dozens of companies nationwide offer "free" trials of acai diet products, claiming endorsements from Oprah Winfrey, Rachael Ray and others, but then charge month after month unless the consumer cancels the order, according to the bureau.

How to Avoid Scams During These Tough Economic Times
 Always be suspicious when purchasing products on the internet if you:

· If you receive an unsolicited call or an e-mail from out of the blue.
· If someone promises you a lot of money for minimal effort.
· If you receive an email from someone in Eastern Europe or Nigeria.
· If you are required to deposit a check, then send money somewhere through a wire-transfer service.
· If you read a sales pitch such as "You must act now" or if you see a high-pressure "countdown" timer.
· If you see a "Free Trial" offer for a product with a low shipping cost. (always check Terms of Service and Privacy Policies of a website before making a purchase).  These type of companies will most likely use your credit card information and bill you $80 a month for products you didn't order and sell your credit card information to other businesses.
· Seeing a product that sounds too good to be true. A free laptop for taking a survey?  No way!
· If you see a review site with suspiciously similar offers.  Look out for fake ratings and customer testimonials too.

· If you have to pay a fee to claim a prize.
· If you see a website that only offers free stuff. It's probably an e-mail collection site for spammers.
· If you are on a suspicious site, it is most likely it won't display their physical address or email and only use a third party call center for their phone number.

Acai as a Super Food
 
Acai is a super food because of what it has in it and how it works in you.  In order to take advantage of the protein, fiber, anthocyanins and polyphenols you must consume the fruit or the juice or the puree.  There is no way a pill can deliver all of the elements of the fruit.
