Pills or Liquids
What Is The Most Effective Way Of Taking Nutritional Supplements?
Liquids such as pure natural fruit juice do not have binders that pills use to hold molecules together or agents which help break them up. Dr. Tim's Exotic Juices do not contain artificial colors, flavors, sweeteners, coating materials which are normally used in pills and capsules and may also be harmful to you health.

Most of the time nutritional supplement pills or capsules are inconvenient to swallow or use without having a glass of water. Natural super juices can be taken easily and quickly.
Taking vitamin pills can also be wasteful. The Physician's Desk Reference, one of the premier reference books for doctors, mentions that while only 10 to 20% of the contents of a vitamin pills can be absorbed by the body, nearly 98% of the nutrients contained in liquid vitamins are available to the body. This means you could be wasting 90% of the cost of vitamin pills.
With exotic super juices, most of the nutrients are absorbed into they body and not wasted. With Dr. Tim, you can spend less that $15 for a month's supply of super juices. Buying the same of vitamins in pill form, would cost you over $300. Dr. Tim's super juices allows you to have the right amount of vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and amino acids in a balanced ratio which can allow for maximum absorption and minimum wastage.

What ORAC Values Mean to You?
The free-radical theory of aging suggests that free radicals attack cells which over time leads to cellular damage, disease, and aging. In general terms, free radicals are unstable molecules that have been left with an odd, unpaired electron. Such a molecule seeks the nearest stable molecule in order to "steal" an electron, leaving the attacked molecule unstable. This starts a destructive chain reaction, resulting in the disruption of the living cell.
An antioxidant, such as vitamin E or C, is thought to protect against free radicals by being able to "donate" an electron to the unstable free radical without becoming unstable itself. As molecular philanthropists, antioxidants help prevent cell and tissue damage.
You have probably heard the oxidative decay caused by free radicals often compared to rust. Antioxidants help defend against such oxidation.
The Lesson: Eat a diet full of fruits and vegetables!
ORAC is quickly becoming popularized as the primary method for evaluating a food's antioxidant capacity. However, because of a lack of industry standards, ORAC values are often misunderstood or overinflated to promote a particular supplement.
ORAC values are expressed as micromole Trolox equivalent (TE) per some unit of measurement. Trolox is a vitamin E analog which is used as the calibration standard.
Units of measurement are the greatest source of misunderstanding for consumers. Values are typically reported as umole TE per gram. But very often you will see the results reported per 100 grams or per liter, or even more confusing, per serving.
Thus, you may see the same food with ORAC values ranging from 30 to 3000 to 5700. You must be careful in noting the unit of measurement used. Also, different foods can appear to have higher values depending upon whether you are comparing dry weights or wet weights. Click here to see examples of varying values reported for various foods.
ORAC Research
A couple of the leading researchers are Ronald L. Prior and Guohua (Howard) Cao, who have teamed up with James Joseph (a neuroscientist) and Barbara Shukitt-Hale (a behavioral psychologist) at Tufts University's Jean Mayer USDA Human Nutrition Research Center in Boston, to further our knowledge of antioxidant activity. In fact, Dr. Cao developed the ORAC measure while at the National Institute on Aging. See "Can Foods Forestall Aging?" Drs. Cao and Prior noted an increase in blood plasma ORAC values of study participants who increased their daily fruit and vegetable intake to 10 servings. The participants' pre-study average daily ORAC unit intake was 1670. During the study, their intake increased to between 3,300 and 3,500 ORAC units per day.
A blood analysis showed that antioxidants were being absorbed. However, the rise in blood plasma ORAC cannot be explained be the intake of any one nutrient. Thus, they point out that other components of the fruits and vegetables are being absorbed also.
Joseph and Shukitt-Hale conducted their research with rats. They found that antioxidants help prevent long-term memory loss in middle-aged rats. The brain cells of these rats also demonstrated an increased ability to respond to chemical stimulation.
Based upon the evidence, it is suggested that we strive for a daily intake of 3,000 to 5,000 ORAC units. However, this should be done by consuming a variety fruits and vegetables, and not just relying on one particular supplement with a high ORAC value.
Dr. Cao explains that "It may be that combinations of nutrients found in foods have greater protective effects than each nutrient taken alone."
What ORAC Values Do Not Reveal
Remember that ORAC values are derived in a test tube, and do not necessarily translate into bioactivity. There are some things the ORAC number will not tell you.
Some antioxidants present in the test tube may not be absorbed and used by the human body.
Antioxidants do not all target the same free radicals. This means that the antioxidants in a food may target a certain group of free radicals and thus leave you vulnerable to other free radicals.
Along the same lines, different antioxidants seem to focus on different areas of the body. For example, Barbara Shukitt-Hale found that spinach-fed rats had better long-term memories than rats fed a strawberry-fortified diet.
While increasing the amount of antioxidants that we consume is important, there is a practical limit on how much we can benefit from doing so. There is a reason it has been recommended that we increase our intake to between 3,000 to 5,000 ORAC units per day. It appears that the body is only capable of absorbing this amount due to the tightly regulated antioxidant capacity of the blood. So taking 25,000 units all at once is no more beneficial that taking one-fifth that amount. The excess is just excreted by the body and is simply a waste of money.
So, ORAC values do not tell the whole story. If you had scurvy, for example, it would do you no good to take pycnogenol, which is about 20 times "more powerful" than vitamin C. When it comes to scurvy, however, vitamin C is much more important than pycnogenol.
Likewise, to say that acai is "stronger" than mangosteen or that mangosteen is many times stronger than noni, is meaningless. They each have their strengths. For example, noni can help raise nitric oxide levels, which mangosteen cannot do. But mangosteen appears to be a better antipathogenic than noni.
The Bottom Line
Mix things up. No single food will provide all the antioxidants that you need. A wide variety of healthful foods is key. While ORAC values give us an idea of a food's relative antioxidant strength, different foods have differing antioxidants and other vital nutrients.
It is also unlikely that you will eat a wide enough variety of foods on a regular basis to provide all the antioxidants that your entire body needs. Quality supplementation may be needed. By adding several of the nutrient dense, high ORAC value exotic juices discussed in this website, you will be on your way to providing what your body needs.

Preserving Memories
One
of our most treasured mental abilities is to remember the past. How
often do we retreat into our memories and relive our memories? Our
amazing brain is truly remarkable in its ability to retrieve memories
from a cache of millions of memories stashed in various parts of our
brains. No one understands what parts of the brain are involved in
storing memories, but scientists continue their studies in their
efforts to find ways to improve memory retention and recall. Everyone
has his or her own "memory-autobiography" of their life. Very few of
us, however, can remember the earliest days of our youth as memory is
said to be constructive as we develop. We also tend to distort certain
memories. We often remember important events, people, facts about
ourselves and specific days when some momentous thing happened ( 9/11,
a bad experience, family deaths etc.) Aging
also has a negative effect upon both our short-term and long-term
memories. As we age, we begin to lose our ability to recall events,
people's names, faces, numbers, locations and where we left the car
keys or even the car. Virtually everyone suffers from memory loss,
even when we are young. It's normal and not a worry. At advanced
ages, however, memory losses can be very serious. Amnesia and
Alzheimer's diseases are examples of maladies that can be devastating
to families and the victims. What can we do if we believe we are losing some memories? ·
One thing is certain--exercise is very helpful as we supply additional
oxygen to our brain cells when we engage in aerobic (oxygen-supplying)
exercises, even walking is beneficial. Exercise every day! ·
Another good tactic to stay sharp is to spend time learning something
new every day. Reading is a great stimulant and should be made a daily
habit. Watching educational TV is also often helpful. ·
Write down family facts and personal histories. It's is an excellent
way to recall the past. Compare your memories with those who shared
in them and who may have an entirely different take. ·
Learn a new language. It's a great memory stimulant. Those who speak
another language have more capacity for activating brain neurons and
synapses. ·
Make lists of things to do every day that include memory "sparks."
An aging friend of mine has a sign on the door to his garage that he
can easily read every time he leaves the house. The signs reminds
him: " Stop! Where am I going?
What am I forgetting? What do I need to take along with me?" The
sign helps a lot, but he reports that sometimes he forgets to read the
sign. · Try to reduce stress in your life as stress can and does reduce your memory. · Learn how to play a musical instrument. Music can be a calming brain stimulant. · Take on a new job or regularly volunteer to help those in need. · Do mind puzzles and word games. It's amazing how helpful they can be. ·
Above all, keep yourself in good physical condition by using only
healthy foods and drinks and taking only those supplements that will
provide optimum nutrition, vitamins, minerals and Essential Fatty Acids
that our bodies need to protect every part of your bodies, including our brains. After
many years of medical and scientific studies, Dr. Tim has formulated
four exotic drinks that are extraordinary in their nutritional content
and are beneficial to maintaining our health. Each
juice is unique, each has qualities such as high ORAC values
(antioxidants), vitamin and mineral content, Essential Fatty Acids,
Omega 6 & 9. These elements and others in the juices have been
shown to contribute to the optimum performance of the body and mind.
