FVT shines at SEMA 2009

eVaro front shot

FVT has returned from the SEMA show in Las Vegas feeling more confident than ever. Not only was this one of the best car shows we have attended, it was also the first "summit" for all 43 X-Prize teams. Twelve teams displayed their vehicles at the show so it was our first chance to get a close look at the competition.

All of the vehicles at the show had a common theme. They are using off the shelf drive components - something that FVT tried years ago before deciding to develop our own system from the ground up.  FVT knows the systems currently available therefore we also know the performance and efficiencies of those systems.

More than ever we are convinced that our custom drive system will be one of the premier drives available globally. This was reinforced by numerous companies from as far away as Europe and Australia that approached us wanting to know more about our high performance electric drive system for their projects.

FVT's multi-prong approach of building the eVaro and dozens of new "under-the-hood" technologies separates us from most EV companies internationally. We just can't bring ourselves to build the car of the future with antiquated parts.

FVT and the eVaro will be highlighted on CBC News "The National" sometime in the next week or two. The shows' producer heard about the eVaro and the X Prize competition and wanted to highlight our team as the race approaches. FVT is one of 5 Canadian teams entered in the X Prize but the only one ranked in the top ten by Popular Mechanics.

FVT will also be featured on "Car Business" with Jeremy Cato and Michael Vaughan on CTV and BNN Dec 18/19. Both Jeremy and Michael have both had a chance to drive the Tesla Roadster and had some very complimentary things to say about the eVaro when they took it for a spin last month during filming.

Jeremy Cato also wrote a great article about FVT for CTV News.ca  . Although he has been around new cars, concept cars, etc. for years, he was genuinely impressed with the eVaro and our accomplishments to date. Thanks to Jeremy for tipping his hat. It is now our job to prove to the world exactly what the eVaro is capable of.

                                                                Bring on the X Prize!

Once in a life-time Sponsorship Opportunity

The first X Prize competition (the Ansari X Prize) was the 5th largest news story of 2004 - globally. The winning team SpaceshipOne that was highlighted "above the fold" on almost every major newspaper in the world and went on to license their technology to Sir Richard Branson of Virgin Galactic. The winning  spaceship now has a place in the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum.

Interestingly,  the Automotive X Prize has already achieved almost 1/2 the coverage the original X Prize - and the competition has not even begun!

We are extremely privileged to be involved with the Automotive X Prize competition and the latest video from the X Prize Foundation really put the enormity of the race into perspective.
FVT welcomes progressive, high profile companies to contact Todd to discuss  being part of this once-in-a-lifetime event.

Maple Ridge Economic Summit Spotlight

FVT recently presented to delegates from around BC and Canada  at the Maple Ridge Economic Summit. After a short presentation the eVaro was driven on stage by George, there were no emmisions or sound of course! The delegates were invited up to have their picture taken with the car and the stage was packed.

Miss October = the eVaro?!

An FVT shareholder was purchasing a few books recently and while in line he noticed a new "concept car" calendar put out by Chapters/Indigo bookstores. To his surprise the eVaro was the October picture! Our prototype is in good company with cars from BMW, Maserati, and Bugatti also adorning the calendar. Looks like George's design has put the eVaro in an exclusive  sportscar club. Who says electric cars have to look like electric cars?!
All kinds of exciting things are happening in the next month so we will have another update shortly.

Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.
