United Way of Murray-Calloway County Announces New Executive Director

ResultsAaron B. Dail has been appointed United Way of Murray-Calloway County's Executive Director by the organization's Board of Directors, effective January 1, 2012.  He will succeed Peggy Billington, who retires in December after 14 years in the position.

"We are ecstatic to have Aaron serve in this new role", said Lance Allison, the organization's board chair. "Aaron is a self starter and understands the impact the United Way has on the Murray-Calloway County community.  Peggy has left large shoes for Aaron to fill and I speak for the entire board when I say we have the upmost faith in his ability to create a new legacy".

Dail served as the organization's Director of Resource Development for two and a half years before accepting the position. He has led the organization's annual fundraising and development efforts along with its focus on community impact.

"I am looking forward to growing the reach that United Way has in our community and expanding our partnerships, scope and the impact we can have on families" said Dail.

Dail holds a BS in Organizational Communication and a MBA from Murray State University, and has been a participant in Indiana University-Purdue University at Indianapolis (IUPUI), Center on Philanthropy's Fundraising School.

United Way of Kentucky is excited to work with Aaron in this new capacity!

Here's how it works: When you buy an Imagine Gift, you are doing much more than giving a meaningful present to a friend or loved one this holiday season.  You are improving lives today and making a difference for tomorrow in the Metro Louisville area.  Imagine Gifts are divided into three categories - basic needs, kindergarten readiness, and high school graduation.  Gifts start at $25.  This is a creative and easy way to give a meaningful holiday gift this season!  Visit the Imagine Giving website to learn more

ResultsFinancial Literacy 2.0

Financial literacy is one of those buzz terms that many nonprofits use when prospecting for board members.  Last week, the National Council of Nonprofits published an article to help organizations move beyond a "focus on the numbers" and prepare new board members to recognize trends affecting the non-profit industry, oversee financial risk management policies and read the real narrative behind a revenue and expense report.

The article highlights gaps in board skill sets found in a recent study by the Center on Philanthropy at Indiana University, and offers links to ten resources to increase the financial literacy of nonprofit boards and staff.  Check it out.
