Secretary Marcheta Sparrow
2011 KECC Chair

Back in June, both new faces and long-time volunteers came together for one reason - to make a difference in the lives of our fellow Kentuckians.  And because of your determination, positive attitude and dedication, that is exactly what we've done!

On Wednesday, November 2, Secretary Marcheta Sparrow and the six KECC Charities joined all of Kentucky State Government in celebrating the successful conclusion of the 2011 Kentucky Employees Charitable Campaign.

Doug Eberhart, the new President of United Way of Kentucky, hosted the event.  "It all comes back to you," he said.  "The work that the coordinators and department volunteers do is what makes the KECC a success.  We owe you a great deal of gratitude for your selfless support."

Secretary Sparrow, the 2011 KECC Chair, noted that the effort was both challenging and rewarding: "I truly believe that this is one of the most important efforts I've worked on in my time as Secretary.  I am inspired by your dedication."

Eberhart and Secretary Sparrow presented awards to Cabinets and Constitutional Offices that exceeded their goal and achieved great results in the campaign (see below).  The celebration also included a video tribute to this year's KECC volunteers.  The video will be available early next week to view at KECC.org.

As of today, 2011 pledges total to approximately $1,084,000 in support of Kentucky communities, individuals and families.  Pledges are still coming in and final results will be announced later this year.

Thanks to our coordinators, volunteers and Cabinet leadership for their dedication in making this effort a success for all Kentuckians.  Most especially, thank you to each and every one of you who made a gift!  You have truly shown what "People Helping People" is all about!

The KECC Award Winners!

ResultsThe results are in!  Drumroll, please...

In the 'Best Overall' Category, which honors the highest "per capita" gift in both the large and small Cabinets, we had two winners in the large Cabinet category: the Office of the Governor, who raised $44.11 per person, and the Tourism, Arts and Heritage Cabinet, who came in at $33.63.  The small cabinet category awards for the highest per capita gift in the state went to the Office of the Secretary of State, who raised an amazing $195.38 per employee!  They were followed by a tie between the Cabinet for Economic Development and the Kentucky State Treasury, who each raised just under $118.00 per employee.

'Spirit Awards' are presented in recognition of extraordinary achievement and spectacular results.  This year's first winner is the Cabinet for Health and Family Services for increasing their total number of givers by over 20%, which equates to almost 300 new givers in 2011.  The Department of Agriculture also won a Spirit Award for increasing their total giving by 33.8%.

The 'Key Campaign' awards are given to the three Cabinets who raised the most money in this years campaign.  These three cabinets raised almost 40% of the entire amount pledged.  The winners, in order of the highest first are the Cabinet for Health and Family Services, the Transportation Cabinet and the Justice and Public Safety Cabinet!

Lastly, the following Cabinets were presented with Achievement Awards for having surpassed their 2011 goals:

--The Department of Agriculture
--The Office of the Attorney General
--The Cabinet for Economic Development
