Early Learning: A valuable investment for employers Drawn from an article published in the Battle Creek Enquirer, dated Oct. 1, 2011
It takes everyone--parents, schools, non-profit organizations and businesses--to ensure that every child in our Kentucky communities will be safe, healthy, prepared and eager to succeed in school and life.
Business leadership is a crucial component for any community's future success. The support of that leadership in early learning can help ensure that the young children of today will become our community's future leaders. Action steps that business leaders and employers can take to support early learning follow several equally important paths.
Last week, the Great Start Collaborative of Calhoun County, MI published an article addressing this issue, adapted from a United Way Born Learning model. The ideas are broad in scope and applicable to every community, large or small. The article explains how employers can not only assist their employees, but also promote early learning in the larger community and build stronger relationships with their customers through early learning outreach.
The influence that businesses can have concerning the importance of early learning can help to ensure our communities are vibrant and successful, as well as provide a steady supply of workers who are well-educated, responsible, and contributing members of society. Effective early learning provides current and future benefits for us all.
Check out the article and pass it on. It is well worth the read, and could be a useful tool to prompt further discussion.
