United Way of the Pennyrile hires new executive, Jennifer Steiner Maddux

United Way of Kentucky would like to announce the newest United Way executive to join the system! The United Way of Pennyrile search committee has selected a new executive director, according to an organizational media release. Jennifer S. Maddux will begin her term as executive director on Sept. 26. "There is no doubt that the United Way of the Pennyrile has really hit a home run with this selection," said Sam Brown, United Way board chair.
Maddux has served as executive director of the Christian County Library and Literacy Council and executive director for the Pennyrile Arts Council. She graduated from Eastern Kentucky University with a bachelor's degree in speech communication.
"I am excited and honored to be given this opportunity," said Maddux. "I look forward to working with the Board of Directors, agency representatives, donors and the community as we strive to make a positive impact."

Donations to United Ways in Kentucky beat national results, increase 3.4%
Donor investments in Kentucky communities through United Way increased in a significantly greater percentage than the nation as a whole last year. According to UWKY data, local United Ways in Kentucky raised over $48.1 million to improve lives and strengthen Kentucky communities in 2010, as compared to $46.5 million in 2009 - an increase of over 3.4%. This compares favorably to United Way Worldwide's announced national increase of just 0.4% over the previous year, as reported in the Chronicle of Philanthropy. However, thanks to supporters like you, United Ways across the nation raised over $3.86 billion in 2010 to make positive, long-lasting community change!
