Bad News for Kentucky's Kids and the State's Future
Kentucky reduces funding for pre-k in 2011

Another national report has delivered bad news for Kentucky's kids - and evidence that we're not making the right kinds of investments for the future. The national Pre-K Now organization released its 2011 "Votes Count" report last week and it showed that, despite widespread fiscal distress, leaders of both parties in most states protected pre-k spending in fiscal 2011 and actually increased funding slightly over fiscal 2010.

Kentucky, however, was not in the group. In fact, Kentucky - which many observers believe has fared better than most states during the economic downturn - was one of 10 states that actually decreased pre-k funding!

It is very important to let the Governor and legislators know that this is unacceptable. Please e-mail Governor Beshear and your state representative and senator today and send them that important message!
