Canopy's Arbor-Day Tree Talk for 300 Kids!

Yesterday Canopy celebrated Arbor Day with 300 kids at Green Oaks and Cesar Chavez Academy in East Palo Alto! We wanted to do something special to get these children excited to help us plant 180 new trees on March 26th!

The feature of our program was Outdoor Educator Tim Womick, who led the children in songs, tree stories, and a thoughtful program on the many benefits of trees. Tim is often referred to as the modern-day Johnny Appleseed because like the original 18th century tree advocate, John Chapman, Tim has for well over a decade roamed across America (and foreign countries) planting trees at schools, parks and other places, while also planting seeds of thought in the minds of those he meets.

Click the above to watch a video showing Tim's fast paced and animated programs.  Thank you, Tim!

Save the date: May 1st for a special dinner with award winning author Richard Louv

Palo Alto Little League

Canopy recently planted 20 new trees at Palo Alto Little League!  We thank the many parents, kids, and volunteers who made this possible.  And some great news...Canopy has been given a complimentary sponsorship to have our own Little League team!  Watch us swinging for the fences this season!

Upcoming Events

Canopy has a number of plantings and events coming up:

On March 12, come out and enjoy our Palo Alto Arbor Day celebration at Eleanor Pardee Park.  While we have enough planting volunteers, we want to encourage you to come out and enjoy Arbor-day activities for the whole family.

On March 19, we will be conducting a Planting Leader Training for a large planting in East Palo Alto the next week.

On March 26, Planting Leaders are needed to support a massive tree planting project at Green Oaks Academy.

To participate contact Michael Hawkins at michael@canopy.org or call 650-964-6110 x1.

Seeking Office Support

Canopy is looking for a few friendly folks to help around the office with little tasks and errands.

Volunteers work closely with staff in a fun and dynamic office, or from home if preferred.
