Dear Friend of Canopy -

People ask, "Which is greener? Buying a plastic tree shipped across the globe, or chopping down a farmed tree covered in pesticides?"

The National Christmas Tree Association says chopping real trees is far better for the environment, while artificial tree companies promote the benefits of reusing man-made trees.

Canopy has two great answers:

  1. If you are concerned about killing a tree or plastic excess this season, why not plant a real, local tree with Canopy? Tree Gifts in honor or memory of a friend or family member include an attractive personalized gift card. If you purchase your tax-deductible Tree Gift by December 20th, it will be delivered in time for Christmas!
  2. Use a potted Christmas Tree that can then be transplanted after the holidays! Choose your species wisely by reviewing Canopy's online Tree Library.

Thank you in advance for planting trees with Canopy or making a tax-deductible donation before the end of 2010. Have a very happy holiday and see you in the New Year!
