Greetings!

Kate Moorehead
The Very. Rev. Kate Moorehead, Dean

During the Great Fifty Days of Easter, we will be focusing on the Book  of Acts here at the cathedral. What happened to the disciples after Jesus rose from the dead? How did the Early Church begin? How was it  that those bumbling twelve were transformed into leaders? Who was Pauland how did he shape the church? These are some of the many questions  that we will address.

I will be preaching on Acts this season, and teaching a Wednesday night class on the Book of Acts as well. At the 9 o'clock Dean's Forum each Sunday, we will examine the early Church and its influence on us today. We will hear from some of the best teachers in Jacksonville: Professor Scott Brown and the Rev. Neely Towe.

And our Sunday Dean's Forum at 10:15 a.m. will focus on how acts of Christian kindness can transform lives. Our speakers in this "Primary Sources" class will be people who have been helped by such ministries as Community Connections, Family Promise, Ready4Work and the Clara White Mission.

We will wrap up our Easter celebration on May 22 with a visit from Griselda Delgado del Carpio, the Bishop of Cuba and Robert Radtke, the President of  Episcopal Relief and Development. By the time Pentecost arrives, it is my prayer that each one of us will have learned a bit more about the  early Christians and how we can walk in their footsteps today.

Happy Easter!

In Christ's love,

Kate+

Camp Weed

The Episcopal Diocese of Florida has offered Camp Weed every summer since 1924. Campers range from grade 3 to grade 12. Activities include:
· arts & crafts · volleyball · baseball · swimming
· archery · nature trails · worship · talent shows

Counselors start at age 18 and are hired for the entire summer. Clergy serve as Deans and other adults volunteer for each session. For camp schedules, registration forms, and staff applications click here, or call 904-356-1328.

Experience Camp Weed for yourself, and see what keeps campers and staff coming back year after year. Camp Weed develops leaders. With the election of the Rev. George Young, III, there are now nine bishops in the Episcopal Church that were previously campers or counselors at Camp Weed!
