Collect Almighty and everlasting God, you are always more ready to hear than we to pray, and to give more than we either desire or deserve: Pour upon us the abundance of your mercy, forgiving us those things of which our conscience is afraid, and giving us those good things for which we are not worthy to ask, except through the merits and mediation of Jesus Christ our Savior; who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

Greetings!
We've received word from our seminarian, Quinn Parman, that all is going well with him in Sewanee. "The change of seasons is in the air on the mountain and it is truly a sight to behold. Shelly and I miss you all terribly, but we are loving life here. Thank you all for your incredible support -your friendship, your prayers, and your financial support." Read more here.
Members of our homelessness coalition hosted Trivia Night last week for residents of the Sulzbacher Center. It was a lot of fun, according to Matthew Clark, who organized the event. The coalition provides all kinds of inspiring classes, activities and services at Sulzbacher and at St. Mary's mission church. To volunteer your talents in this ministry, contact Rolland Kohls.
Don't miss the parish picnic Oct. 17 at 4 p.m. at Episcopal High School. We'll have BBQ, games, fun for all ages. Please let us know if you're coming by signing the sheet we've posted in Taliaferro Hall, or call Judy Maurer at 904-356-5507, or E-mail jmaurer@saintjohnscathedral.org.
Volunteers are needed to organize games, help with set-up and more. Come to a meeting after this Sunday's 10:30 service if you can help, or E-mail Monica MacKenzie.
At our Dean's Forum the past two weeks, we have been so blessed to hear from Prof. Scott Brown of UNF. He is such a captivating speaker, and through words and beautiful photos, he brings the history of medieval cathedrals into vivid perspective. Don't miss his presentation this Sunday at 9 a.m. in Taliaferro Hall. (Take note: we've revised our schedule for upcoming "Cathedrals through the Ages" forums.)
Do you have news for The Eagle or our Web site? Send me an e-mail so we can keep everyone in the parish up to date!
All blessings, Theresa Johnson, Cathedral Executive
